The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

At least the recap was good for some funny self-owns:

Options:

  1. Give us your data

  2. Go fuck yourself

[–] M500@lemmy.ml 20 points 9 months ago

It stopped working for me with a vpn. They are really pushing people away at this point.

I guess it’s an issue is profitability. I think long term, these companies can’t survive. It really depends on a community support.

I use old Reddit and a third party app, so my recap made no sense

I liked that

[–] Holyhandgrenade@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago (2 children)

What app is that? Are any of them still working?

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

Iirc Joe for Reddit was one of the few third party apps, that were able to continue using the api for free ( or almost? ).

I don't remember what the conditions were though, there was some catch, something they had to feature in their apps in order to get the free api access.

[–] otter@lemmy.ca 2 points 9 months ago

A few of mine continued to work as normal, and I'm not sure why

[–] MataVatnik@lemmy.world 26 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Reddit mobile browser is THE definition of asshole design

[–] squeakycat@lemmy.ml 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

All of reddit's newer design is the definition of asshole design. Once old.reddit.com is killed off the site will be as unusable as X or TikTok is on web for logged out users.

[–] Aasikki@sopuli.xyz 1 points 9 months ago

I'm kinda surprised they didn't already kill old.reddit just like they killed 3rd party apps.

[–] Daxtron2@startrek.website 23 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Why are you still using reddit?

[–] elkaki@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Why not?

(Also look at the community you are replying in... What use is there on quesrioning why people use reddit on the c/reddit, it's like when people say "why are you using 4chan" on r/4chan lol)

[–] _danny@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

To be fair, both sites are pretty much gaping shit holes at this point.

[–] elkaki@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I mean, yeah somewhat, I'm just pointing out the idiocy of asking that question in a place specifically designed to talk about those places.

Also, regardless of how bad the sites as a whole are, making the transition fully is just plain too difficult, there are communities that haven't moved and no matter if you are putting effort to have them here, you won't be able to get a question about a program answered if there are 3 active people on a community

[–] FlihpFlorp@lemm.ee 3 points 9 months ago

On top of that while I did quit mostly cold turkey after Apollo shut down, putting Reddit at the end of internet searches especially for games (looking at you planetside and V Rising) really helps me manage to this exact piece of niche information I need

[–] _danny@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Oh absolutely. I still go back for the occasional check-in with my favorite small communities. But I basically never browse /r/all or any of the top subreddits that used to keep me coming back multiple times per day.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

I go to Reddit for literally one thing every week- a schedule I won't see anywhere else. I just look at the schedule and leave. But I still need Reddit to see that schedule.

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

I'm not really using it like before, i jump there sometimes from search results and am logged in automatically...

I haven't deleted my account yet, because idk, there are some things I'd like to be able to look up.

[–] cosmicrookie@lemmy.world 20 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Deleting all my posts and then my account was the best thing I've done in ages

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I am actually really tempted now to do so.

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago (1 children)
[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Done!

Edit: i also wanted to make a screenshot of the "account deleted" message, but after clicking on "delete" you're just redirected to the front page, no confirmation whatsoever... Lame

Edit 2: yes, i deleted all my posts/comments beforehand. At least that was confirmed.

Their app is so shit they have to extort people to use it.

[–] ohlaph@lemmy.world 17 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Or the:

  • open in app
  • continue in browser

Every. Fifteen. Minutes.

[–] Kekzkrieger@feddit.de 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

just not visitinf reddit solved the issue for me

[–] ohlaph@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

I still visit niche communities on Reddit that have almost zero activity here. Trying to geow them, but it's not taking off.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago

Please get the app

Please

[–] rbesfe@lemmy.ca 12 points 9 months ago (3 children)

The only way to use Reddit on mobile is to use old Reddit. You have to zoom in to tap on things, but holy hell it's still so much better than the mobile version of the website.

[–] ech@lemm.ee 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It's wild to me that Reddit never developed a reasonably functional mobile version of their site. They bought out a few designs, and relied on 3rd party apps for a while, and now they're doing their utmost to force everyone to use the garbage pile that is their current design. I just don't see how it proved such an impossible task for them.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

I get the sense that tying their shoelaces is an impossible task for them. That the site is online and running is a damned miracle.

[–] Aasikki@sopuli.xyz 1 points 9 months ago

Eh, the worse the experience is, the less I want to use Reddit, which is only good if you ask me.

[–] waigl@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

One of the advantages of being on old reddit like a hopeless geezer is not getting to see that shit.

[–] BeefPiano@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

2023 isn’t over?

[–] Zaphod@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 9 months ago

Doesn't desktop mode in a mobile browser get around this?

[–] lapommedeterre@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

Works if you view as desktop

[–] Yoz@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

Infinity for reddit was working for me but today I installed android 14 and its now asking to pay for subscription. I am now officially of Lemmy. No more reddit for me.

[–] rtfm_modular@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

Meh, I opened Reddit just to lurk on the only subreddit I would post on. Recap for that community reminded me it was all one big circle jerk… but now with more advertisements.

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

My recap would show all of my accounts go inert right around the time I jumped over to lemmy (circa beans, Titan implosion).

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

I just deleted my reddit account. There's no going back now.
