What this actually proves is that Hunter Biden made good on a loan from his father, and kept track of these repayments on an actual spreadsheet.

No wonder Republicans are so upset, this might establish a precedent that people ought to repay loans, and not just leave others on the hook for them

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 27 points 11 months ago (2 children)

That’s what they already think. See student loans and Biden.

[–] spaceghoti@lemmy.one 40 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And here I thought they were for predatory loans driving people into bankruptcy but not allowing them to offload the debt unless it's a corporation.

See Biden and student loan forgiveness.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Yes. As I said to someone else, it’s all hypocritical. The republicans only care about how they serve themselves and the narrative will always be whatever helps them get what they covet.

[–] spaceghoti@lemmy.one 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And you think it's hypocritical that Democrats are trying to do something to help Americans struggling with student loans? Your logic is not clear.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I literally did not say that at all. I was commenting on the republican side of things.

I personally think it’s fine, and owed, to give student loan debt relief. That is not full wipe outs for everyone, it’s a helpful token that helps everyone. Businesses and wealthy always get the kickbacks but struggling people get one little bone and others throw a hissy fit.

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Which paradoxically differs from how they view PPP loans. Or is it hypocritically?

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

It’s all hypocritical. They just want to get theirs and fuck everyone else. Whatever form that takes, well, they support it.

[–] sndmn@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 months ago

Student loans are, by definition, for education and education prevents conservatives.

[–] TechyDad@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Clearly, the Republicans must impeach Biden now. Do you know how much this could hurt Trump if "people have to pay back their debts" catches on?!!!

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Clarence Thomas is whistling as he passes by.

[–] reverendsteveii@lemm.ee 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Brett Kavanaugh is sobbing as he passes by.

[–] ggppjj@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Calendar clutched, alcohol soaking into his anus.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 56 points 11 months ago (1 children)

So... wait... if Hunter was so low on cash that his dad was having to cover his car loan, and Hunter repaid back that money... then doesn't that mean he WASN'T getting millions and millions from China?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 37 points 11 months ago

You're expecting this to be rational.

[–] agitatedpotato@lemmy.world 50 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Let's be fair, I can see how Republicans would find it unusual or strange to pay back a debt.

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 6 points 11 months ago

Or that an exchange of money can be done without needing to cover something up

[–] ashok36@lemmy.world 50 points 11 months ago (1 children)

So Hunter paid Joe about $4100 over three months when neither of them were government employees or office holders.

Next they'll bring out evidence Joe paid for hunter's orthodontics in 82 and that proves they've been in cohoots the whole time.

[–] DoomBot5@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

No way, these people are exchanging gifts like they're family or something. What has this world become?

[–] theterrasque@infosec.pub 4 points 11 months ago

What, giving gifts to family instead of stealing from them?!?

[–] originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com 46 points 11 months ago (3 children)

how much time and money have been wasted on this effort lead by conservatives?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 30 points 11 months ago

It's not wasted if it gets their constituents to vote for them.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 28 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Don’t call them conservative, they don’t conserve fucking shit.

[–] agent_flounder@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Extremist Reactionaries or Regressives works for me.

[–] reverendsteveii@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

terrorists and saboteurs seem to fit more and more with each passing day

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

More of both than it would take to keep medicare, medicaid and social security solvent in perpetuity.

[–] originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

universal healthcare would be cheaper than what we pay now.

but both conservatives and democrats dont want universal healthcare.. now go figure out why

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I WAS actually going to say "more than the transition to universal single payer healthcare would cost, after which it would be cheaper than the current system of paying trillions to private insurers for denying as much care as they possibly can", but I could come up with a concise with better punctuation way of saying it 😁

[–] originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com 6 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

i like to put it this way and have people try and make it not sound terrible:

health insurance profits only come at the expense of human suffering.

repeat it. shout it. because its the truth no one wants to say out loud.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Haven't gotten to use this one in a while

[–] franklin@lemmy.world 45 points 11 months ago

You mean to say their blatant attempt to finger point and shift focus away from their party's misdeeds turned out to be nothing?

Shocked.

[–] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 27 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I'm not a fan of Biden. I held my nose when voting for him. But if all these investigations can't turn up ONE thing besides for Hunter's huge cock then the Biden's are way less corrupt then I thought. That's a pleasant surprise!

[–] rmuk@feddit.uk 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

How huge are we talking? Asking for a me.

[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 17 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Big enough that MTG, known swinger, entered pictures of it into the Congressional record. Shes got her eyes on that dick.

[–] RunningInRVA@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

So what exactly made you think he was corrupt to begin with?

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 18 points 11 months ago

Everything they do is a fucking joke.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago

Worthless fucking degenerates.

[–] dynamojoe@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It's disappointing how the selective omission of information can make something innocuous seem so damning.

[–] JustZ@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Hunter Biden's whole life was turned inside and out in 2014 when he joined the board of Burisma. The Republicans tried to make it a scandal then but he was cleared of any wrongdoing or nepotism by the Office of Government Ethics in 2014. I literally cannot even find those stories anymore because of how the media resurrected the story and saturated the public record to create a fake scandal. Like yeah, he probably got the job because of his last name, but the only reason Burisma wanted his last name is because this was a company dedicated to the sole goal of getting Ukraine off of dependence on Russian oil and for that it needed credibility in the West, who cares about that?

[–] Redfungi@lemmings.world 4 points 11 months ago

I want to comment on that website. Did it just back load 3 or 4 more articles i had to back out of to leave the site? thats fucking new... It used those weird blue bars to hide the loading i think?
