Curious to see the impact of lemmies and what we freaks are up to.

For me, I was in the 0.05% of The National (don’t ask lol) which apparently have 5.9M monthly listeners..

My wife was in 0.05% of Mallrat listeners over 1.8M monthly listeners..

Not to imply direct correlation between the two numbers of course.

Top 0.001% of listeners (11.9 million) for ELO with 27,261 minutes. I think I have a problem.

[–] Baahb@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

I think you are living right.

[–] anti@lemm.ee 2 points 9 months ago

I guess rock 'n' roll is king.

[–] girl@lemm.ee 14 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Pink Floyd, at ~7,000 minutes. My dad was in the top 0.05% of listeners globally, with a total of ~154,000 minutes. He was in the top 0.005% of Pink Floyd listeners at ~28,000 minutes.

[–] Ringmasterincestuous@aussie.zone 6 points 9 months ago

Holy shit!! Hahha!!! This was what I was hoping for!! Hahah!! Amazing! Ur dad is the man!

[–] Knitwear@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

With a mere 243min you can be in the top 2% of Dolly Parton listeners which, tbh, seems low given that she has 16.9M monthly listeners

[–] Ringmasterincestuous@aussie.zone 6 points 9 months ago

Wow.. everyone playing Jolene to the first chorus?

Well this is just for fun and a commute.. not reading anything into it, but that’s right up the drastic tree

My wife was top .05% for Taylor which is like a billion users.

I was top .05% for Emancipator which is like 11.

[–] Redditgee@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Discovered Emancipator a couple of years ago. So good!

[–] SaakoPaahtaa@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

How do you guys navigate the UI in such a way you'll actually see anything? On my end the parts have the redundant 20sec intro and then the actual info stays for literally 1 frame before jumping off to the next chapter. Impossible to pause the chapter right at the end.

[–] scapegarced@sopuli.xyz 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

At least on desktop Im able to pause the chapter at the end.

[–] SaakoPaahtaa@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Alright thanks, gonna have to check it out. On mobile it's like watching a marvel movie, the moment you have information on the screen it's already cut to the next bit lmao

[–] Ringmasterincestuous@aussie.zone 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Hahah! Love it! You’re an important demographic here on lemmy I would think!

I hope you drive some weird arse distro! 🥰

[–] Donjuanme@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

Dude, with my generic af taste you think I'm rolling anything besides windows 7? (Windows 7 on my main work rig, trying to get I.t. to upgrade it, Windows XP on my backup rig. Legacy systems f.t.(killmeplease)w. At home I rock an Asus and a Dell, Windows 10 and 11.

I'm the most generic cis mid 30s child free white guy you could imagine. (งツ)ว

♥️ To you though! (My wife is finally breaking into Linux for some statistical software for her PhD program, she says I'll enjoy sudo. I do have a steam deck that runs Linux I suppose, so there's that!)

[–] FlashZordon@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

Top 0.5% for Paramore at 2,881 mins. New album year really pumped up those numbers lol. pic

[–] Chetzemoka@startrek.website 6 points 9 months ago

Nine Inch Nails. Why yes, I was in high school in the 90s, why do you ask?

[–] preludeofme@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago (2 children)

[–] preludeofme@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

[–] eighty@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I have YTMusic (lol) but came as no surprise (hence the name)- only started listening this year too

[–] Ringmasterincestuous@aussie.zone 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

35x the average user! Haha!! That is cool as! Congrats/get some help!!

Hehe.. very cool! So much new music from this post to check out on my commutes. Going to be a roller coaster of up, downs and I’m not sure what’s! Thanks!!

[–] eighty@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Great post idea! A bit misleading cause she's got range from chill (don't)to upbeat/triumphant tunes (kattekekoyoi) for workouts.

Saved this post to refer later ✌️

[–] Ringmasterincestuous@aussie.zone 2 points 9 months ago

I think I felt this just a few minutes ago. I was checking out another reply (leprous) but just the ‘popular’ song from the initial mobile view and copied the link thinking I’d post it as a reply but realised, I have no idea if op would roll their eyes or what. Could be a sin for some crowds haha.

If I’d thought the post through it would’ve been so much better haha! I should’ve asked for a link or note of the 1 song u’d give a person to give them the best introduction/chance of opening the door to the artist. Then compiled a public list.

Even a begrudged “genre” would’ve been useful lol.. The way this is I have added a bunch of latest albums of artists in no order. One song I’m going to be in metal mode wanting someone to fight me on public transport to the next song when I’m having the dance party that strokes me out! Haha!!

Got a bit lucky with replies like yours that added the info!

[–] serpineslair@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Last year I got top 0.01% of Exodus listeners (thrash metal band). 7,031 mins.

[–] synae@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 9 months ago

Hell yea 🤘

[–] Exusia@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I'm in the 0.1% for a guy with 200 monthly listeners. I'm just glad to be part of the crowd.

[–] Ringmasterincestuous@aussie.zone 3 points 9 months ago

That dude appreciates it more than most I’m sure!

[–] DigitalMus@feddit.dk 3 points 9 months ago

0.5% of eluveitie at 1443 minutes, I suppose not too impressive considering 907k monthly listeners. But I'm a varied listener

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Shame, honestly, they're a great band. I recommend Evening Light for anyone new to them.

[–] Ringmasterincestuous@aussie.zone 2 points 9 months ago

Added to my list to check out.

I was top 0.5% for ZZ Top, with just shy of 800 minutes.

[–] Ringmasterincestuous@aussie.zone 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

This is so interesting. What distro are you running? Tehehe!

I’m not sure what I had in mind but I probably wouldn’t have guessed this one was going to be here.

Makes a bit more sense when I think it through (with my incorrect, limited, one eyed perception of the user demograhic)
