The current cost-benefit for AMD mobo+cpu+memory… which generation?
I got 850w psu and RX 6650 xt gpu, thinking of upgrading my mobo/cpu/memory (probably itx) this year. Heaviest use will likely be VR.
I was thinking something like 7600 cpu (because free stock cooler) + B650 asrock or msi wifi + the cheapest compatible memory 2x8gb (or 2x16 if the upgrade is negligible)
But now I wondered, is it really worth the cost? By the time I need to upgrade the rig again I’ll probably need to upgrade everything anyway (except psu fosho) and a DDR5 will probably produce negligible gains for gaming… so, for a coherent upgrade…
What would be your recommendation for a comparable AM4 build?
Is AM5 still a better investment at the same price as AM4? What would be the reason?
