Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

It’s like we’re flying towards a brick wall, and corporations and republicans want to put their foot on the gas, because the faster we go the more money they make… until impact of course

Many of them are dominionists who actively want the world to end so Jesus will come back. These people will kill us all for their fairy tales.

Ironically, Christians are commanded in the bible to be good stewards of creation. Many apparently take that to mean destroyers of creation.

man reminds me of this guy in a big suv being interviewed and saying how god wants us to use all the oil before jesus comes back. thats why he put it there.

That’s true, but there are also many wealthy (aka greedy) people who figure, because they can afford to live anywhere, that the problems won’t affect them personally. Or, even if they recognize the problems will be inescapable, there’s the rush to just grab a little more before the everything comes unglued.

That's not so much a theory as much as it's an explicit strategy that isn't even being hidden. Look up the apocalypse plans from the tech bro billionaires. They don't care about trying to stop it, they're just trying to make as much money as possible so they'll be in a better position, and they don't care if they accelerate it while they do it.

That can't be right, since they're all going to hell.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 30 points 1 year ago

You might get your wish sooner rather than later. You just won't get to live on any other planets either because you won't have survived what we did to this one.

Wherever you end up going, take as many of those politicians as you can with you.

[–] DannyMac@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm leaving because of those politicians! Why would I want to take them with me? I guess I could drop them off at the Sun for you.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

They're always going on about how great god is, drop 'em off in space where they can be closer to him.

[–] RagingNerdoholic@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

I have good news for you! ...or bad, depending on how you look at it.

Oh of fucking course they want to dismantle what few fucking climate policies we have in this country. God forbid the EPA says you can’t dump your shit water in natural mountain springs so we don’t contaminate our drinking water. How DARE we want to attempt to lessen the impact of climate change on our planet so that future generations just might not have to live in an unlivable world.
