I do not know if this is rational, but these days literally all emerging technology and science news that is not about AI seems quaint by comparison. We have humans accomplishing in years what the next Proto AGI could accomplish in minutes. Todays Proto AGI's can do 100s of years of human intellectual work in mere minutes, how much more in the next 2 years.

If you are not contributing to AGI, then your contribution to the future of humanity and life on earth seems miniscule in comparison. At best, you work is merely data a future ASI could use when answering a prompt.
