"I would like the ship to go now."

Lol How the hell I don't remember this scene from Airplane I tought I remember all of them.

[–] Routhinator@startrek.website 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

So good. Still makes me audibly laugh.

visibly controlling laughter

“Nailed it, sir.”

[–] GreenMario@lemm.ee 37 points 2 years ago (2 children)

They left it open, but I'm certain Captain Seven 's warp phrase is "Comply".

[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago

Im voting for "Borg it!"

[–] nxdefiant@startrek.website 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

If I had to actually write it for the show, I'd probably make hers "Get it done". It's Janeway esque with a hint of Picard.

[–] GregorGizeh@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 years ago

Thats been sullied by captain jelico though.

[–] GreenMario@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

Also a good one. I can hear it.

Doesn't have the lyrical quality to it, but it works if you squint.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 18 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Bonk it.

Fucking offended. Simply because what Saru decided to go with was objectively worse. Execute. I love you man but come on. Then again the other floated options were 'Manifest' and 'Hit it' which is already used by Pike (as Saru points out). So... not much better.

[–] negativenull@lemm.ee 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Hehehe, sorry to offend. I didn't make the meme, just enjoyed the spirit of it.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Not actually offended, just in case that didn't come off. also liked the meme <3

[–] negativenull@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I did not think you were actually offended.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Just wanted to make sure buddy

[–] negativenull@lemm.ee 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If I wanted to truly offend you, I'd make a quip about Canada, which is nothing but America's hat.

I just watched that exact episode last night!

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

It's a great one! Then again, any Badgey episode is a Goodgey episode

I’m cross-pollinating for sure, but Thrawn’s has quite the impact

Note: if you are watching but haven’t finished the Ahsoka series, that clip contains spoilers.

[–] VindictiveJudge@startrek.website 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm still so happy that they got Lars Mikkelsen. He was perfect in Rebels and continues to he perfect in Ahsoka.

Agreed - outstanding casting decision. There are a lot of things that frustrate me about the show, but for the most part I’ve found the “bad guys” FAR more interesting and compelling than anything about the “good guys” (and that includes the acting). Thrawn (and his troopers) and Baylan are GREAT.

Also, shoutout to Hayden Christensen for bringing some excellent subtlety to Anakin’s character at this point in the story - if you’re a nerd for this shit, there’s some really cool lightsaber style nuances and subtle callbacks/echoes to plot points and character traits that were mostly established outside of the prequel trilogy itself.

Bop it!

There's been a couple seasons where it felt like the defiant was the only ship in the Starfleet fleet.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Worf commanded the Defiant. Sisko commanded a space station, which just makes "shut that thing off and fire torpedoes" all the more apropos.

[–] mercano@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Word’s phrase would be “Ramming speed!”

[–] CeruleanRuin@lemmings.world 14 points 2 years ago

Data: "Technologic"

[–] ApostleO@startrek.website 13 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

I decided a while ago that if I was a captain, my warp phrase would be Captain Tenneal's "Let's Go!" from MXC.

Just posting this comment to call "dibs!"

[–] GreenMario@lemm.ee 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Right you are, Ken.

[–] negativenull@lemm.ee 8 points 2 years ago

LEEERRROOYYY JENNKINNNNNS!

[–] FlatFootFox@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

I love new Star Trek but the, “What’s your go to warp slogan?” banter feels a little like an indulgent writer’s room exercise. Each Captain had their own thing, but they never called too much attention to it on the classic shows. It was like their unique caffeine orders. Discovery’s banter with Saru felt authentic to that crew’s rapport, but the fact that it went on to become a Starfleet meme on Lower Decks and the cliffhanger ending of Picard is such an odd modern invention.

…but I’ll be darned if I don’t laugh every time.

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I don't know how popular of an opinion it is

but I really liked Burnham's "Let's Fly" and Janeways's do it.

but the meme shows me I need to rewatch most of DS9

"Should we put Captain Lorca's warp phrase on the image?"

"Nah, fuck that mirror universe asshole. Just add another Pike and call it a day."

[–] nxdefiant@startrek.website 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Movie Pike looks like TOS box-pike compared to SNW Pike. Unrelated, I just thought it was funny 🤣

[–] dejected_warp_core@startrek.website 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I just want to see a Starfleet captain with a real zeal for ancient seacraft. I can see that spilling over onto the bridge with practical air of fun self-indulgence. Let's bring back some of those SeaQuest vibes.

  • Ensign, make best speed for port.
  • Helm, all stop.
  • Full reverse! Helm, evasive maneuvers. Bring us 20 degrees below the galactic plane. Weapons, launch countermeasures.
  • Engineering, I need silent running, now.

Sisko did build that Bajoran solar sailing ship, which was a nod to seagoing vessels.
