This is the kind of scenario I see in my head when one of these asshats say they wanted to "shake things up in Washington". 🙄
It's hard to build a system, even if it's not working 100% perfectly (and no human institution is ever likely to do so). Very hard. It's quite simple to break shit. Any toddler can kick over a sand castle.
But hey, at least we did something about the "status quo", because having a status quo is automatically a bad thing according to a whole lot of fools and dumbasses.

Also, to really complete the DARVO effect, it could use a few third parties popping up to represent the Elevated Centrists, the "independents", the "liberal media", and a certain kind of "leftist" that like to blame the Democrats for not stopping the Republicans doing all the awful shit they get up to...
So, a couple of things... Yes, their fault for being Trump supporters...
But also... She's 45, she came here when she was 10. She's had THIRTY-FIVE YEARS to become a US Citizen.
It does take an insane amount of time to work through the citizenship process, but it doesn't take 35 damn years. Especially not after marrying a US citizen.
Source: Friend of mine did it based on refugee status from Lebanon. My daughter-in-law did it on a student basis from Burma after marrying our son.
You could easily argue she was deported for trying to take the legal route. They grabbed her from her green card hearing
Realistically I’m sure it’s just laziness. ICE has quotas to meet and they realize they can’t meet them while performing due diligence. So, instead of finding and convicting criminals, set ambushes at immigration courts and places of work. It shows both the stupidity of quotas and the reality of creating “criminals” where none existed before
True, but it's a green card hearing that should have been done 29 or 30 years ago when she was 15 or 16 and trying to get her first job. :)
She's been here since the George H.W. Bush administration... plenty of time to have worked things out.

naturalized are next "on the list" after they finish dealing with birthright citizens.
My parents moved to the US from Canada back in '98, became US citizens, and I've been hounding them almost daily at this point to come back home to Canada. At this point I don't care if I go into massive debt providing for them or if I have to get a second job just to be able to afford a place to rent with more than 2 bed rooms.
I'm just so terrified every day that ICE is going to detain one of them or both. I just can't get through to them that they need to leave the US and come back to Canada right now.
Oh no, they'll still revoke legitimate citizenship, but she made it way too easy by, you know, not earning citizenship in the first place.
I guess I don't quite understand why we have a system where someone that comes here at 10 later has to take extra steps to become a citizen, honestly.
Well, if they come here at 10 and aren't a citizen and don't do the work to become a citizen, then they still aren't a citizen.
I agree that's a fair point. I just wonder why it's even necessary to go through any extra hoops if you come here as a minor.

I guess I don't know what the process is and how long the ordeal is, but it just seems weird that on top of all the other things one gets to do when thrown into adulthood is that they'd have some arduous process to go through.

Fair. There is the problem of having to revoke it for countries that don't permit dual citizenship, I guess. Maybe if the U.S. at least had a short form they sent out to minors just before they turn 18 and had a simple and quick thing they'd do to file for it. Something that should not take more than a month to get finalized. So maybe not entirely automatic, but very simple and straightforward and quick.
That being said, we have the system we have and this woman should obviously have adhered to the one we have...and also her husband should not be voting for the likes of Taco and she should not be "supporting" Taco, either.
That was the thing my daughter in law ran into... Myanmar doesn't allow dual citizenship, so she had to give up her own citizenship to become a US citizen.
In the end, it's safer for her now because she can visit her family and doesn't have to worry about being immediately blocked re-entering the US.
The levels of dumb and laziness on her part say she got what she deserved. She could have earned citizenship and she could have become politically informed.

I'm for either stripping Trump states of statehood, turning them into commonwealths where they can pay for their own social security and medical coverage (because right now, the vast majority of them don't), or going back to 1870 and sending in the Union cavalry to fucking keep them the fuck out of politics, allowing black people and immigrants to vote, etc. What horrible people. Fuck you and your grandmother too.
The sad thing is that these people are using our money and having Taco sending that money directed against blue areas. Once ICE gets all their funding, it's about to get a whole lot worse.

I'll bet 1 internet point that they never vote anyone but republican for the rest of their lives even after this. The ones who don't get deported of course.
What's interesting about this case is that she's an illegal who was deported years ago but snuck back in anyway. Did she forget about her illegal status? Or did she think she would be spared by supporting Trump?
The cynical answer is she thought the would be spared because she's white.
The straight answer is that Trump told people the country was being overrun by criminals and gang members whom he would deport. People who bought that story thought those who didn't fit that description would be safe.
Well, the thing about being a criminal is that it means you’ve been convicted of a crime.
Trump is a criminal. But he was born in the US to US citizens.
The goal is to make all sorts of things crimes such that it’s almost impossible to function in the US as a foreigner without committing a crime. At that point, the government can choose the people to deport at their whim.
Since birthright citizenship is being struck down, and this government interprets the constitution as only applicable to citizens, expect Trump to attempt again to pass legislation for more types of citizenship nullification.
One tricky bit is, if you’re declared legally dead, you immediately become an illegal resident if you’re still alive. And DOGE has already declared a number of people dead by misinterpreting a few databases.

I hate this graphic. Read top to bottom, "have the day you Voted for" which is obviously incorrect as you would only capitalize the first word of the statement, so it's bottom to top/left to right, thus "Voted for day you have the" which is also clearly not correct. Even if you ignore the capitalization error, the statement is just shit. I get what it's trying to convey, but it sucks ass at doing so. It's a roundabout way of saying "you reap what you sow" but the creator got all "Live, Laugh, Love" (or I guess "live, laugh, Love") about it and thought they were creative and smart.
I bitched about this like 6 months ago the last time I saw it, and I'll bitch every time I see it. It's awful on all levels. Mirror the rainbow, flip the text so it reads left to right + top to bottom, and they really need a sharper phrase in general.

They keep saying "criminals," even in this story. Some of them are US citizens, one of them was 4. I'm pretty sure a 4 year old isn't a criminal. Also, with no due process, we don't know shit if they're criminals or not. This is a money grabbing grift that is disappearing people, probably to death.
I’d go even farther. Since there’s been precious little due process, essentially none are criminal. Essentially none of those deported have been convicted of any crime.
And no, I’m not taking the word of the people who deprived them of that right while hiding their own faces
