I'd feel better that we (Americans) don't have a monopoly of fascism if the topic wasn't goddamn fascism.

Not that is makes a difference to the morality, but it was an opposition candidate for The Greens in the PM's seat, not a current sitting pollie.
Morally it doesn't make a difference, but it does make a difference fascism wise (slightly)
The Guardian reported that NSW Police said officers issued a move-on order as the protest was considered “unauthorised”, citing a lack of advanced notice and failure to submit exemption forms required under anti-protest laws.
Oh, fuck off, what is this shit?!
An excuse to beat someone's face so hard they lose an eye.
So, you know, normal cop shit.
If you ask the state for permission to protest, you are quite literally their bitch
We must stand with Israel as they kill children and starve people and we beat the shit out of people who think that's bad. Do you care about kids? Fuck you. We'll kick your ass. Are you still defiant about hate? We'll kick your ass even harder. Israel has a right to genocide a people right in front of us. If you don't agree, you're an anti-semite.
This comment is sarcasm. Shut up. Fuck genociders.
Masks are off now for the pretentious 'western values' countries invariably lecturing others.
So do I understand correctly that on this globe you can only be against genocide of the Palestinians if you live in an authoritarian country like China, Iran, Russia, etc.?
Obviously in those countries you can't be against their own genocides like the Uhigers, Ukrainians, etc. But somehow when it comes to Israel the rest of the world seems to not dare being against genocide?
Is is because the US is so powerful that they fear reprecusions? Or why is that?
I have the feeling Israel is a US puppet state that is being used to take control over the Middle East. (And destroy Islam while they are at it)
You are overlooking Ireland. They support the Palestinians.
That's because they are very familiar with having a neighbor with a mindset like Israel. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Troubles
It's because we are in the worst timeline. Evil has won in this para-dimension.
Fair.
I'm hopeful that it can't get exponentially worse forever.
It can. We're living in what our children will call the "good old days" right now.
Survival alone will be brutal next decade. Millions upon millions of climate/war refugees vs the thousands of today.
I think you'll find Western countries don't need much of an excuse to support colonial genocide.
None of the 2 mentioned are genocided.
And the fact you're commenting about China, Iran, Russia, etc. neing authoritarian while there's full on censorship in the west about this post is typical.
You're part of the deluded, pretentious 10% of the world calling themselves 'the international community' with 'their western values'.
Already hated for centuries of imperialism and now this total support for genocidal maniacs.
Anyone in touch with people outside of the western online community knows they will not forget this either.
Agreed. Plus those are rookie numbers. Mao killed at least 40 million people on accident. Imagine what he could do if he put effort in.
you people are pathetic
Do you have a source for that number other than a CIA funded think-tank?
Please give me the real numbers, comrade.
Most estimates range from 15-30 million. A smaller proportion of the population than the Irish potato famine which was caused by British mismanagement but I don't hear that talked about as a reason why capitalism is terrible much.
15-30 million
Hello yeah Mao stays winning.
I don't hear that talked about as a reason why capitalism is terrible much.
Probably because the overwhelming majority of people agree it was bad, especially here on lemmy. Find me 5 people that say the potato famine was good, actually, and I'll find you 3 entire instances that'll ban me for saying "maybe killing 15-30 million people for societal progress isn't the best strategy."
Tankies get more pushback here because nobody is singing the praises of capitalism.
Yeah people agree the famine in China was bad too. Even Mao and other officials in China agreed there were mistakes and made changes afterwards. Are you aware China experienced devastating famines on average of once a century for the previous 2000 years before that? There hasn't been a famine since then.
Better article including video of the assault and description of the police's woeful response to it.
And without a microsoft tracker. Comon people, please don’t share MSN links!
I request an eye for an eye
NSW Police attempted to move the group on, claiming the action was unauthorised.
This is scary to me, why do we need authorisation?
Pretty much all protest rights were stripped away in the last decade state by state, mostly as a reaction to environmental and climate protestets. Liberal and Labor both supported them. Only the Greens and some of the minor parties and independents were against them.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws_governing_public_demonstrations_in_Australia
I believe the last ones were Adelaide. But before that it was Melbourne, Sydney, etc. Its fucked and the major parties have zero desire to change the situation as it suits them.
Most western "democracies" turned protesting into a crime over the last 2 decades, under the guise of "national security" and other fallacies. Only a small percentage of the population took notice at the time, and the other 95+% are surprised that their rights were taken away when they weren't paying attention.
