Respectfully, no fucking shit. I wanted to happily just go about designing pages, and then it became clear the point of the enterprise was not to inform our readers.
I honestly don't know how others engaged in "journalism" were willing to look the other way. "Because they needed to provide for their families" or some shit? You cease to be a journalist when you compromise your ethics. You're now in marketing or PR.
Last weekend I pretty much had to go hunting for news on the protests. Since when. The hiding it, the burying It, it shows they are afraid!
My take, and I've only been covering politics since the '90s, is they realized they crossed the line for public support, so now there are two options: admit overreach (obviously not an outcome here) or double down.
