The sad part is that the incel thinks the boyfriend will abuse her because that's exactly what the incel would do in that situation.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 204 points 1 month ago

He doesn't just think that, he hopes for it.

He hopes the girl has a miserable time in order to get back at her for shooting him down.

Some people do not deserve companionship it seems

[–] HalfSalesman@lemm.ee 124 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

He was being a bad person the moment he thought "I hope she gets abused by her boyfriend." No need to do research on the guy after that point.

That said, he'd only saying that because hes incredibly close to being depressed and in extreme self loathing in response to being rejected and trying to protect his his will to live via delusional projection and lashing out. "She's the one with a problem not me. I'm great. She's a piece of shit and deserves to suffer."

People who don't delude themselves about how great they are unfortunately usually don't respond to rejection with "I need to improve myself" or "I'm just not his/her type I'll find someone." but with "I should kill myself, its hopeless. I'll be romantically alone forever and I can't take it." and the sheer mortal terror of potentially thinking that way causes the delusional insulation and projection.

"I need to improve myself" or "I'm just not his/her type I'll find someone."

Hm... the only thing I can remember thinking after having been rejected was "phew, that didn't work out, but glad I tried!" and moved on with my life. That... might be more to do with the general dissociation that I'm starting to realize has been a major theme in my life.

[–] blarghly@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's definitely not normal. Most people feel some kind of negative emotion in response to any kind of rejection.

The incel mindset is an elaborately constructed self-reinforcing worldview. Anything that might lead to self-improvement is cut off with hopelessness and self-loathing and thought-terminating cliches.

And Schneier's Law applies: "Any person can invent a security system so clever that she or he can't think of how to break it." Incels trap themselves in a fiendish bespoke prison they have constructed for their own torment. If they didn't direct that torment outward at people who don't deserve it, they would be pitiable.

Fake: Anon has friends

Gay: Anon looks up men on the internet

[–] drewcarreyfan@lemm.ee 8 points 1 month ago

What, so now it's "gay" to be a man who is sexually and romantically attracted exclusively to other men? Man, what's up with this world.

[–] red_bull_of_juarez@lemmy.dbzer0.com 78 points 1 month ago (10 children)

If we are the normies, what are 4chan users? The abnormies?

[–] Samdell@lemmy.eco.br 140 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Lemmy users are not normies

[–] red_bull_of_juarez@lemmy.dbzer0.com 50 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 58 points 1 month ago (2 children)

No no, they might have a point...

Welcome to Lemmy, where all of our users have autism, ADHD, both, brachycephaly, festering demonic anatomy of carnal nature, or may or may not be Academy award nominated actress Margot Robbie. We also all run Linux (or Plan9).

Totally normal :P

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You pretty much described the best parts of the Internet.

Once normies start using it everything goes downhill.

[–] blarghly@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago
[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 month ago

I just realized I haven't seen Margot Robbie here in a while. She must be busy with filming...

[–] Frostbeard@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I run Arch btw

There's two kinds of weirdos, the good kind that accepts their weirdness and lives authentically, and the bad kind who insist that they are normal and redirect their feelings of shame into hate for everyone who thinks they're weird.

[–] Valthorn@feddit.nu 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

No no, they might have two points...

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

I always want to point out that I’m a normie, then I start thinking of criteria and shut my mouth.

[–] meep_launcher@lemm.ee 17 points 1 month ago

The real normies are the ones you made along the way

[–] nesc@lemmy.cafe 12 points 1 month ago (6 children)

Why? Having niche interests is pretty normal.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

If you’re part of a .01% portion of a population that divides itself, you’ve likely got something different brewing in your brain than most. And there’s nothing wrong or right about that, but it is worth considering.

[–] nesc@lemmy.cafe 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

In one way or another you aee .01% of population, e.g. someone is from austria, electrician speaks german and english and italian, goes to church and part of the chorus, their partner is from italy, and they like mountain bikes. How many people like this in the world? How exactly using lemmy is less normal then using another less popular forum?

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (4 children)

In that example, you’ve already described several thing that are unique or peculiar, albeit more common than using a website fueled by spite for the modern internet. Like I said, there’s nothing wrong or right about it, but it is worth considering.

Normal is someone you do not know well enough yet. It is a fictitious misconception. If you think about the concept objectively, you likely will not be able to name anyone you know really well that fits into the ideal group you have mentally abstracted as normal. The construct is part of tribalism and our human complex social hierarchy on a subconscious level; we are deciding who is and is not part of our personal tribe and their ranking within that hierarchy relative to our own. Everyone is abstracting on this level, but few are self aware in this space.

[–] blarghly@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I honestly doubt this. Some people just live life by the book, never have an original thought, and are the square peg the square hole is looking for.

[–] pixeltree@lemmy.blahaj.zone 25 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Lol lemmy is just as terrible with women as 4chan is. Do you remember what it was like here during the man vs the bear question? So many users being the example of why women would prefer the bear

[–] lka1988@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 month ago

This has nothing to do with online platforms, and everything to do with terminally-online people who have never experienced socializing with the opposite gender.

These days, there is nothing abnormal anymore about a 4channer in highschool with a self-centered and entitled world view, low work ethics and a video gaming hobby. He is the normie. The guy who volunteers in a soup kitchen and takes active care of his own body is the one who dares to stand out and be different.

[–] Wanderer@lemm.ee 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Have you met a youth lately?

Every teenage and guy in their 20's has two hobbies doom scrolling and gym. They can't do anything else that doesn't involve chatgpt

[–] exasperation@lemm.ee 13 points 1 month ago

any male born after 2003 can't date... all they know is 4chan , lift they weights, goon, be incel , eat hot tendie & lie

[–] lime@feddit.nu 13 points 1 month ago

lol like any of them have abs

[–] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Everyone thinks of people who aren't part of their group as "normies". The Pope thinks of non-Catholics as normies. The Hebrew word for "normies" is "goyim".

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago

Considering the community, you’re probably better off not talking about Jewish people.

Sociopathic deplorables

As literally an abnormie, I am appalled by that thought!

[–] Vanilla_PuddinFudge@infosec.pub 4 points 1 month ago

Like most of us don't visit 4chan or something...

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 month ago

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 31 points 1 month ago

Sloppy Seconds - If I Had A Woman Really ahead of their time with this incel anthem from the 80s.

[–] selokichtli@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 month ago

Enlightenment. Was that football player enlightened? Yeah, didn't think so.

[–] theblips@lemm.ee 5 points 1 month ago

I was this guy in my teens (minus the hoping girls get abused part...) and it 100% comes from depression and self loathing. He probably had a tough time getting along with the "normal" kids early on and decided to self isolate. Maybe the now normies had a part in that too back then, bullying him and so on, I know it happened to me... It's a rough and very hard situation to live through, but there's hope

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 month ago

Butthurt shithead.
