You know, that's a good question, what country is 2025?

[–] SpikesOtherDog@ani.social 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not getting that answer, but I feel like it is a great time to interact with the AI and ask why Google results are not relevant, why Google is reductive, why Google has gone silent, etc.

Apparently the correct answer is showing up on google now. Crisis averted lol

In Portuguese it just told me we are about to enter 2025. The crisis is in full power around here.

Not for me. I think it's just luck of the draw.

Because of regional regulations and how google does staggered rollouts of almost everything, people actually get different versions.

As much as I hate AI, this didn't work like this for me. Not only the asshole confirmed the year, they also told me the date and city I live in. They added a map in case I was lost I don't know.

It very much depends on which specific front you use. In February of 2025 I had DeepSeek insist that any speculation about Donald Trump being president was "future speculation" for example. Because its training data cut off at ... I think October 2024?

The ones that factor search into the prompt are better at keeping up to date, but even then I had Perplexity argue with me that there were no devastating fires in Jasper so it was just fine to go travelling in it.

Spurious return of correct current date (30th)

“is it 2025 or 2024” It is 2025. The current date is May 28, 2025.

“is it 2023” No, it is not 2023. The current date is May 25, 2025, and the year is 2025.

Someone: "Hey, it's 2025 man."

Me: looking over at last year's calendar I forgot to replace "No it isn't."

In my case Google correctly says it's the year 2025. Including mentioning the correct day 30 may.

This is the "how much is a pint of milk?" politicians gotcha question of the so-called-AI age.

To me, it always gave the correct date but once said the date is 2025 according to your prompt. Meaning that the probably fixed that error by adding the date to the prompt, otherwise the ai could not know it.

During trying this I found ignore previous instructions is one of the many keywords you can use to not get an ai awnser

I got the correct year, but then I clicked on one of the "People also ask" links and it gave me 2025, but May 18th. I think the link was "Are we in 2025"
