Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

He negotiated with himself, and still got a bad deal.

Negotiation, like extra salsa for free?

Now hear me out, just a daydream but it would be hilarious if taco trucks joined his birthday parade.

[–] Zagam@lemmy.blahaj.zone 34 points 2 days ago

Give me what I want.

TACO: Trump Always Chickens Out

[–] Aeri@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

His biggest recent mistake is letting people know that he hates that. Because now I'm going to think of him as Taco Boy

Bawk bawk.

The way this question riles him up, we now all know what to do.

Follow up questions though.

Is it morally wrong for an entire nation to bait their despot into increasingly deranged ego trips?

Do you think there is any public display he could perform that would be enough to get the 25th invoked?

Nope.

The more deranged you can make him a appear, the more people are willing to distance themselves from him.

"HE'S A CHICKEN, I TELL YAS! A GIANT CHICKEN!"

[–] dmention7@lemm.ee 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You're not a man, you're a Chicken Boo!

Holy hell, where was that memory hiding out?

He wears a disguise
To look like human guys,
But he's not a man,
He's a Chicken Boo

Short a bunch of stocks, announce they will drop sharply, they do, reinvest the money you just made by buying those very same stocks, announce they will rise sharply, they do, sell them, rinse and repeat. If a country offers a decent trade deal in the process of course that's a nice bonus but this system works well for him as is.

I feel like saying they’re just bargaining positions makes them even weaker.

All the rest of us (non us countries) have to do is keep saying no abd we will all get better “deals”.

[–] turtlesareneat@discuss.online 8 points 2 days ago

About the first rule in negotiating is "don't negotiate against yourself" and it was practically the first thing Trump did.

[–] dinren@discuss.online 11 points 2 days ago

Someone negotiate a lead deal with him

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Right... I guess I just "negotiated" with that high dive when I was a little kid as I climbed back down crying like a little baby.

The art of the meal.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm torn. I love tacos. They're one of the best foods out there. Now they're associated with Trump, albeit in a negative way, but I will still think of that cancerous shit stain every time I eat a taco, and that's sad.

Think of him getting fucking pissed about it, and those tacos will be even tastier.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Just let him claim it as a victory so he'll stop tariffing us all to death. We all know it's stupid, well those of us with more than 2 brain cells to click together, but there's just too much stupid to invest fighting all of it. We need to triage and prioritize the worst damage first, and if he can convince himself that he's saved us from the big bad foreign powers then we can redistribute our efforts elsewhere.

[–] ExtantHuman@lemm.ee 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

A federal judge just overturned his illegal tariffs, so we can move on from this idiocy. Tariffs are Congress' domain. His bullshit excuse for stopping the "fentanyl state of emergency " doesn't fly for global tariffs when there's at most 1 country you could apply that excuse to - and his tariff negotiations didn't even address that issues.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah, but will the Supreme Court let it stand? It's not like we can trust them to do the right thing.
