- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

If you follow the men's community grifters long enough, you realize that they don't want guys to be happy. They're all closeted about something or other and so deeply ashamed that they want other men to suffer and their eventual message is ALL the same:
"Real men don't need women, just give up hoping for a rewarding relationship, learn to accept your stoic, lonely life and just live for gaining wealth and respect."
I've been watching this shit from the sidelines for decades now, they ALL do this. Hooking naive guys in with promises of sex and affection and all the things that young men think they need, then later abandoning them because "dating isn't even worth it."
Imagine being lonely, single, socially awkward and unable to talk to girls, and the ONLY people promising to help you end up stranding you with nothing to look forward to.
These people need to be purged from Earth. I cannot fathom how more and more men are latching onto this shit even as statistically, they are more lonely than ever before. Someone explain basic math to these kids.

Yep, most male gamers who take issue with Aloy can't tell she has some light coverage, and then criticize her for not wearing makeup and being ugly, which is amusing. And sad too, that even wearing makeup doesn't satisfy their impossible standards because it's still not enough makeup.
Maybe Aloy plucks? Some people just have great eyebrows without having to do anything, and I am jealous of those people.
For the PS6 re-release they'll include the smell-o-vision of a person from a world that has never heard of soap, deodorant, or toilet paper.

you know... this was essentially my experience getting my first glasses. So much hair EVERYWHERE on EVERYONE. what if OOP just needs glasses?
also seeing individual blades of grass far away was insane, felt like a superpower.
Watching leaves in a tree blow and move about....
I remember seeing the grass textures in the first Halo game and being blwom away by the texture, guess thats the closest i will feel to what you describe. (I have 20/20 vision)
When I got my glasses at age 10, I stepped out of the optician's door and instantly was amazed that you can actually see individual tree leaves

You're talking about a segment of the male population who watches more cartoons than they spend time around actual humans.
I rarely have any encounters with genuinely toxic gamers, but I remember one time a troll being rude to everyone and was bragging how great he is with having more points while I have zero (we are just few minutes into the game). I responded that he has zero sex in real life. He didn't reply for a long time until he had enough and quit after telling me to kill myself. I think he quit because I eventually outscored him by a wide margin. Lol funniest gaming moment I had. I haven't encountered the player again because he probably got banned.
These incels blame everyone but themselves. And the thing is, I give them the benefit of the doubt, because many of them are probably neurodivergent and don't even realise it so they did not get the necessary help. I am not saying it is the person's fault for being neurodivergent, but many incels who happen to be one easily lash out because they just don't realise they are neurodivergent. I have a family member who was diagnosed only later in life, which explains a lot when we were growing up.
