WHAT IS THIS? A PASSPORT FOR BLUE WHALES??

[–] pinball_wizard@lemmy.zip 1 points 18 minutes ago

There are correct. That is way too big.

I'm no Canadian passport connoisseur but when were they red? My old one from 10 years ago is blue so I'm not sure what that's about?

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

No one ever said it was red.

[–] Wilco@lemm.ee 3 points 1 hour ago

But they said it wasn't red. So one would question when they were.

I think I get it. They are expecting the passport to be red like the flag.

Admire that you did this. Believe it or not, a lot of people on Lemmy have a hard time pointing out their mistakes. Commendable.

I think their point is that there would be no reason to saying that it's not red if there was also no assumption of it being red in the first place

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

I'm not a racist, but seven doesn't feel like a prime number.

[–] UnderFreyja@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

Yeah exactly that

[–] Fiivemacs@lemmy.ca 45 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

They are, but only if you're a diplomat

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 13 points 3 hours ago

The White Power Ranger one is badass.

[–] UnderFreyja@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 hours ago

Ah ok that makes sense

[–] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 3 points 5 hours ago

You probably left the EU or something.

At that size of a passport, in an international emergency, you could use your passport as a shelter or flotation device .... is it also bullet proof?

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

It doubles as a riot shield, just in case.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 hours ago

I'm case you have a layover in US?

[–] Sibshops@lemm.ee 15 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Why blue? White with red trimming would be nicer.

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 13 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Iirc, you can only choose red, blue, black, and green. Maybe other colors are possible, but not preferred (I can see a white passport looking pretty rough after a couple years, if you’re a heavy traveler). No idea why they wouldn’t stick with red though.

[–] Grabthar@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

You can see the text on the front of them for what they are for. Blue are regular passports for casual travel. Red are diplomatic passports for high ranking officials. Green are special passports for senators, MPs or government workers on official business. White temporary passports are usually issued abroad where a Canadian citizen has an urgent requirement to travel but doesn't have a passport for whatever reason.

[–] LilB0kChoy@lemm.ee 5 points 6 hours ago (4 children)

I believe red is usually reserved for diplomatic type passports.

[–] altasshet@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 hours ago

Swiss passports are bright red fwiw.

[–] 1rre@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Singapore?

And the EU have burgundy which is red-adjacent

[–] LilB0kChoy@lemm.ee 4 points 5 hours ago

Unless I'm mistaken, that's a Canadian passport pictured and in Canada red (maroon) passports are diplomatic.

White are temporary passports for Canadian citizens outside Canada who require passports but their regular passport application is being processed.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

[–] match@pawb.social 5 points 6 hours ago
