I for sure would. Ryan Reynolds as a Bard being played by Gonzo.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 19 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (6 children)

Gonzo is DM.

Fozzie = wise cracking Bard

Miss Piggy = Half-Oink Barbarian

Kermit = Elven Ranger

Animal = Wild magic Sorcerer

~~Rolf~~ Sam the Eagle = paladin

Rolf = Druid

Dr. Teeth: BBEG, trying to rule the realm with Electric Mayhem

I like Rolf, but i think Sam the Eagle would be better a better choice as an uptight paladin.

So kind of like Drunk History but with muppet dialogue instead of slurred speech?

If so, I'm sold.

[–] supergrizzlybear@pawb.social 58 points 1 month ago (13 children)

there is nothing that cannot be improved by the addition of muppets

Watch it? Hell, I'd crowdfund it if it wasn't for the fact that Muppets are a Disney property. The House of the Mouse has more than enough cash to make this work.

FWIW, this format would work with a bunch of awkward teens at the game table.

You could also go the other way and re-release "Honor among Thieves" by constantly cutting away to the game table with hilarious die-rolls and the rest. Think: "Of Dice and Men", or "Dorkness Rising".

Drunk history X muppets. There you go

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 24 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It’d be a great skit, but the gag would get old pretty quick for anything full-length.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Do you're saying we'd only get seven or eight seasons of it ?

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It'd get old by the end of the skit.

Holy fuck this is GOLD!

[–] Skellysgirl@lemm.ee 19 points 1 month ago

It’s a yes from me. Hitting the golden button!

[–] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 12 points 1 month ago

Good lord this is brilliant !

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You might enjoy HarmonQuest! Bonus fun fact: the DM was originally just an audience member when Dan Harmon came up with the idea and asked for a DM, but is now a regular cast member.

So Jumanji The Next Level movie?

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Jack black is obnoxious but he really did nail the high school girl impression.

[–] AZX3RIC@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I hate Jack Black's acting.

I completely agree with your opinion.

It also works in Tropic Thunder.

Sounds like Drunk History which I've always said would be better if it used muppets.

[–] Zedd_Prophecy@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

This is brilliant ! I would watch it in a heartbeat.

[–] jpablo68@infosec.pub 8 points 1 month ago

I would. Honestly.

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 1 month ago (3 children)

If you're okay with them not being muppets, check out Dorkness Rising. Once they start playing, about 15 minutes in, the action bounces back between the players and the characters. It's old but still works.

[–] Mesophar@pawb.social 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Dorkness Rising is their second movie, and it makes a lot of references and throwbacks to the first.

Dead Gentleman Productions

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Legit this is a fantastic idea

[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I would also watch the most recent D&D movie with scenes of the Muppets playing the game spliced into it.
