Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Sweet. I'm no longer committing piracy, I'm training a personal AI...

How dare you plebe? You haven't even paid any ~~bribes~~totally legal donations to the Führer! Now what do we have here? Your great great grandfather made a spelling mistake on his citizenship application! Off to CECOT with you!

The same people who spent a century robbing humanity of a robust public domain suddenly don't care about piracy when they're the ones doing it.

They’re gonna steal everything

I guarantee it

How much have they taken from your family’s retirement funds in the last 4 months?

if history has taught me anything, this type of rampant greed almost inevitably leads to stuff like revolution, deposing the ruler, violent protests.

this is america, though, so i'll be tweets and hopes and prayers. trump will die unopposed, and his successor will hold a fucking parade for him.

y'all need to know that you don't move BACK from shit like this. you FIGHT back from shit like this. your kids are gonna die for this.

They already have stolen it, now they are rewriting laws so it’s legal to have done it

Do you think that the amount that the stock market drops somehow goes to the governments bank accounts or something?

[–] PunkRockSportsFan@fanaticus.social 10 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

It goes into the accounts of people who shorted the markets on the corrupt leaders advice.

Did you not pay attention to how gleefully they were as they got richer while we got poorer?

This was like 6 weeks ago

Fires everyone that doesn’t agree and replaces them with his henchman. This democracy is eroding at a rapid pace. If people don’t unite and push back (including lawyers, universities, media, gov) that doesn’t agree it’s not going to last any longer.

The conclusion in the report was that "Government intervention would be premature at this time" - the reports words, not mine.

I can't really see why she would have been fired for that report. The quoted copyright law expert also disagrees that she was fired over it:

Copyright law expert Meredith Rose questioned the link, calling the report “113 pages of ‘well, it depends!’” and adding that “people who find that offensive enough to call for her ouster would have to be utter lunatics—on EITHER side of this fight.”

One side is talking about suspending habeas corpus while flagrantly violating other parts of the Constitution while destroying relations with allies and favoring totalitarian dictators. Would not be a leap to call such megalomaniacs "lunatics".

Rep. Joe Morelle (NY-25), the top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, issued this statement after Register of Copyrights and Director of the U.S. Copyright Office, Shira Perlmutter, was fired earlier today by President Trump
