Summary

Elon Musk rejected accusations of Nazi sympathies in a Fox News interview, calling it “outrageous” and blaming media propaganda.

Critics point to his straight-arm salute at Trump’s rally, endorsement of a German far-right party, and reinstating white supremacist accounts on X.

His cuts to federal agencies under DOGE have sparked protests and vandalism, including nicknaming Teslas “swasticars.”

Musk claims he's targeted for character assassination and receives daily death threats. He and Lara Trump compared the attacks to those against Donald Trump, accusing mainstream media of spreading lies.

It's because you did the nazi salute. Do you remember that you did the nazi salute when the faschist government took over?

[–] mechoman444@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Nhaaa.... Just because you do the nazi salute position yourself in a place of authority inside our current fascist government and support it's politics and agendas even make Buddy buddy with its leader doesn't necessarily make you a fascist yourself... Right?

[–] khaleer@sopuli.xyz 6 points 7 hours ago

Hear me out, he is preparing ground for media reform.

[–] madjo@feddit.nl 11 points 9 hours ago

Shouldn't have made that salute then, nor throw your support and your weird fans behind the AfD and Tommy Robinson.

[–] cley_faye@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

Nazi says what?

[–] bluegreenwookie@bookwormstory.social 24 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Well elon a start would be saying on live tv

"I am not a nazi. I detest everything nazis stand for. White supremacy is bad"

That would be a start

[–] ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

A start would have been not throwing a nazi salute.

[–] jorymo@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

twice in a row.

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

It's because he prefers NaXi

[–] Liberteez@lemm.ee 2 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Well to be fair, he's certainly obNaXious

[–] xzot746@sh.itjust.works 23 points 13 hours ago

Don't want to be accused of being a Nazi, then don't fucking act like one you stupid cunt.

If you're looking for sympathy you can look elsewhere.

[–] Guidy@lemmy.world 5 points 10 hours ago

I will stop calling him a Nazi the moment he takes his ass to Mars and stays there forever.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 8 points 12 hours ago

Condemn white supremacy then

[–] rockettaco37@lemmy.world 33 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Bro literally intentionally does a Nazi salute on TV and then whines when people say he's a Nazi...

[–] Freshparsnip@lemm.ee 10 points 17 hours ago (3 children)

That's because he doesn't understand consequences

[–] orcrist@lemm.ee 3 points 7 hours ago

Oh, he understands the consequences. Everything he's saying now is an act. He's lying now, he lies constantly, and he relies on people not pointing it out.

[–] WaitThisIsntReddit@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

He's starting to experience them at least.

[–] SupremeDonut@lemmy.ml 6 points 9 hours ago

No because in his deluded mind he believes he's the target of harassment.

[–] rockettaco37@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago

Unfortunately I don't think a lot of people in my country do...

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 20 points 17 hours ago

He's had ample time to apologize, still hasn't.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 45 points 20 hours ago
[–] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 46 points 21 hours ago

straight-arm salute

It's called a nazi salute. Don't spread doubt on what it was. He did it twice in close succession. The only other reason for holding your arm up like that is when you explain how high Blondie, Hitler's dog, could jump.

'Nazi' isn't a preferable pronounce, it's what you're called when you act like a nazi, talk like a nazi and salute like a fucking nazi.

[–] Freshparsnip@lemm.ee 13 points 17 hours ago

It's outrageous to claim he isn't a nazi

[–] Wilco@lemm.ee 12 points 17 hours ago

"How dare you say I'm a Nazi" ... but has never said he wasnt.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 23 points 21 hours ago
[–] clashorcrashman@lemmy.zip 9 points 17 hours ago

It's even more outrageous that we have Nazis in government.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 33 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Look guys, just because he bought Twitter and reinstated all the Nazi accounts, and thinks and says Nazi things, and and performed an obvious Nazi salute not once, but twice in a live broadcast to millions of homes, that doesn't mean he's a Nazi!

[–] Tja@programming.dev 7 points 21 hours ago

Next thing you will say that this guy is a Nazi;

https://youtu.be/zvgZtdmyKlI

(under 2 minutes, English subtitles available)

[–] Corno@lemm.ee 135 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ignoring the fact that he did what was probably the most vigorous Nazi salute in existence...

It's not just not outrageous to call him a Nazi, it's a perfectly normal and reasonable thing to conclude especially when you consider his other behaviour and the kinds of things he supports

[–] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 63 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Supporting the AfD party, an openly neo-nazi party, and appearing in their events, days after the "roman salute" removed any kind of ambiguity that could exist. He's a nazi, period. And the only good nazis are dead nazis.

[–] Corno@lemm.ee 33 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The Roman salute excuse that many of his supporters promoted irks me because of how dishonest it is from the get go. There's not a single Roman work of art that depicts the salute and it actually originated fairly recently under Mussolini's National Fascist Party.

[–] lagoon8622@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 day ago

Additionally, the Nazis on 4chan et. al. had no problem recognizing the symbol for what it was. It was the pearl-clutching lib enablers who had trouble recognizing it

This post does not mean "voting is useless", tankies fuck off

What’s really outrageous is that he’s a free man, instead of rotting in some cell for the rest of his life like the Nazi sympathizing psychopath waste of oxygen he is.

[–] Zacryon@feddit.org 25 points 23 hours ago
[–] collapse_already@lemmy.ml 44 points 1 day ago

Looks like a duck, acts like a duck, quacks like a duck, even rapes like a duck. Why is everyone calling me a duck?

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 12 points 20 hours ago

History books will show he said this after the multiple seig heils on stage and telling the AfD to no longer be ashamed of Germany's past.

Guys, he’s absolutely right, and absolutely worse - Nazis have ideals (however flawed and monstrous) and this POS has none.

He’s an opportunist psychopath with 0 qualms about throwing a Nazi salute if it gets him what he wants. He’s a Nazi sympathizing parasite who’ll fake anything for likes, and the only thing he deserves is to serve as a ridiculed, timeless reminder for future generations the dangers of mindless celebrity worship and billionaires.

"I need to save Tesla stock so I'll just lie long enough for people to forget."

Pretty funny/terrible that there is so much news about all these turds (probably by design) that it becomes exceedingly difficult to search to fact-check older things and bring up previous articles one remembers. Even AI has problems parsing the searches. It is like 1984's information-deletion theme isn't even needed. You just create enough noise that the signal gets lost.

Re-found this info though to float it back up to the top: https://www.irishstar.com/news/us-news/elon-musks-political-shift-family-34222327

Discussing with MailOnline, Errol conveyed his satisfaction at observing Elon own up to his background, stating: "I think for the first time Elon was accepting who he is. Until recently, he's been a sort of character on a stage." He then added his thoughts on his sons' initial political trajectories saying, "When you come from South Africa, Lefties think you're a Nazi. To succeed, you need to be accepted by them so my sons, [Elon and younger brother Kimbal, a hugely successful restaurateur], started to become these flaming liberals – turning away from South Africa and their roots, which included me. Finally, Elon was embracing his heritage and his destiny," reported the Mirror.

Of course, "South Africa and their roots" == Apartheid, white nationalism, and all the usual stuff leading up to Fascism and Godwin's law.
