Couldn't handle staying at home today so I took the Minipeelers to the zoo. The meerkats were a delight

Hmm, contents insurance is due and the premium is up 20%. Ran it through their online calculator for the same details and it's only up 10%. Absolutely shameless.

Annoyingly my policy expires 4 days before my planned moving date.

another box unpacked

and I found my driving lesson book , yay πŸ™‚ now to study some more

MedicalI need to take phosphate supplements due to my levels being very low post iron infusion and having now dropped further which is a risk to my heart.

But they’ve given me supplements with artificial sweeteners which I don’t tolerate. I’m seriously struggling with being able to take them.

The resulting stomach upset is wasting fluid I can’t afford to lose (dehydration) and causing extra pain but at the same time I can feel something definitely is wrong. I do need to replace the phosphates. I’m really weak, dizzy, and dropping things from my numb hands.

I’ve been searching for any alternatives and rung a support worker who is going to check out some possible options.

If I can’t take them by mouth it will have to be done via iv which means hospital. I’m hoping I’ll be able to access it through an urgent care or a privately paid service but maybe not.

You absolutely can get tabs without sweeteners, was on them during chemo. Also fizzy berocca-like form. Speak to your pharmacist.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 points 24 minutes ago* (last edited 8 minutes ago)

I have the fizzy tabs - they contain aspartame and are causing issues that mean I can’t manage the amount and frequency. I’m trying to get hold of my doctor - sent an email and will call tomorrow seeking an alternative

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

so many hugs

do you have anyway to relax after taking your tabs? A tv show which completely distracts you? Something to take your mind off the discomfort?

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 1 points 23 minutes ago

It doesn’t really work like that. I try but it causes diarrhoea that depletes my fluids when I already struggle with dehydration and kept landing in the er for iv fluids.

I’m sorting other solutions because this one is not working

Man, I'm so exhausted after a 3 hour cooking marathon (not including half an hour of popping over to the shops) plus another hour of cleaning up. But I think we are good for food now for the next 3-4 days. Taken me a while to recover but now I feel ready to at least start writing some work to-do stuff down... If I'm lucky I'll get some things done today.

Cyclethon 4 is over, tears were shed, to dinner and meal prep I go!

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 points 2 hours ago

I have to cook dinner and lunch prep, but Cyclethon is so close to ending that I can't look away!

I've worked hard today. I've had 5 coffees and roughly 99 trips to the dunny and I've discovered a new nerve located close to my hip that likes to give me a zap every now and again which is fucking fun.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 2 hours ago

there's a nerve in that general area that when it zaps takes my breath away

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (2 children)

Hsp on the way!

My diet for the last year has been:

Oats and fruit plus decaf for breakfast

2 protein shakes for lunch

Bowl of veggies for snack

Chicken of some variety for dinner

(with occasional pizza)

Fruit for snack before bed.

I need grease. A lot of grease lol

Edit: also the 2nd Lego movie as fucking cool lol

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 1 points 26 minutes ago

That is awesome! And here's my fat ass having waffles for dinner 2 nights this week.. at least they're homemade I guess.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Cheers!

I know it's very boring, but I actually don't mind eating the same thing all the time. I still go out to dinner and get takeout sometimes but I just feel better (mentally as well) when I'm eating fairly clean.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 1 hour ago

I'm the same, I don't mind the same food, in a way it makes life easier, not thinking about what to eat is one less thing on which to waste my time

and I wish I was eating "clean" , but I'm eating cleaner than I was, which is something

Have had a contemplative sunday. Am recovering from surgery, resting in bed, thinking about hiw/why I havent really spoken to my very elderly mother in years. Is this the painkillers talking, or sensibility?

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

so many hugs

hope you get better real soon 😘😘😘

and to answer your personal question, has she spoken to you?

that's the problem - I'm not sure who's not talking to whom/who is drawing (in)appropriate boundaries. But thank you for your well wishes - much appreciated

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 8 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

walked home along the beach

the colours were so beautiful

I love the rocks under the waves at high tide, this is where I usually go for walks

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I love this beach life for you SO much. Thank you for sharing it!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 hour ago

thanks, I'm just 200m to sand and water, it's nice , very accessible

I go at night too, to see the lights around the bay , the ships are all lit up and I can see more than a few stars

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

Hot cross buns are fine but my fav Easter treat is the Greek almond crescent shortbreads. So good with a cuppa.

I have finally finished my sofa. I finished the cushions a while ago (although it took a long time, all those long edges take forever to sew) and today did the webbing to replace the springs. It took quite a long time and used a lot of staples. Sitting on the couch properly instead of sunken in with the old squashed cushions and stretched springs should be good for my back.

I expected Miss Meow to get freaked out by the noise of the staple gun but it didn't seem to bother her. She even came over and walked all over the webbing midway. Now that it is finished she has indulged in some zoomies, attacked the end of a roll of tape I haven't yet put away, and is now holding on to a small piece of tape she just captured with a dramatic pounce. Who would have thought she was into upholstery?

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Are we going to get pictures? πŸ™‚

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 3 hours ago (3 children)

Reasonable request. Here you go.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 points 2 hours ago

That looks amazing. Go you!!!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

oh wow, that looks really good

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I really love the fabric. I bought the roll at a discount fabric place many years (ok, decades) ago, initially intending to cover another couch which I ended up not doing for various reasons. I bought this set with the intention of recovering it, but kept being indecisive about whether I wanted to spend the money on new foam, wasn't sure how to deal with the springs etc. etc. I'm glad I fiinally got myself into gear to actually do it now.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

It's a really nice sofa. πŸ™‚ And your workmanship is very good.

[–] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Furniture restoration projects. So hot right now.

Kidding aside, it looks amazing.!

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 points 3 hours ago

Thanks.

I'd love to fix up the wood frame a bit too, but that is a project for another time.

I love those pillows! And this picture in general. Tux is staying grounded!

[–] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 1 points 50 minutes ago

Tux is fat street fighter and the void is lightweight stone cold killer.

It’s evenly matched but, they also snuggle together occasionally

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 4 points 5 hours ago

bap you stole my mousie

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 5 hours ago

White sox needs to learn if you're gonna give a left jab then you need to protect the face with the right. Black sox could give a couple of hooks and upper cuts and white sox would be down on the canvas.

Doing some work on a Sunday (boo) - client issue came up just before the long weekend, which has been on my mind and needed the calm of a weekend day to work through it. Email prepped and ready to send out tomorrow morning. Now I can relax.
