More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Will it last longer than a lettuce?

[–] RizzoTheSmall@lemm.ee 4 points 5 days ago

Doubtful. It will either immediately go back on its promise of no censorship, or will become a cess pit of hate and illegal activity.

Either way it's doomed from the outset by virtue of being associated with Liz Truss

Ah, another free speech enthusiast about to launch another "uncensored" social media site that will be as uncensored as lemmy.ml

never-trusst-a-tory.com

She really thinks she is the UK Trump, but she has the charisma of a wet paper towel

Wet paper towels can be helpful though.

I do remember her subpar performance as PM, but I don't remember her being so redpilled and Trumpian. Did the lettuce experience do this to her, make her so full of grievances?

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

She just wants attention, she's the same as Piers Morgan and that Katie something from a few years ago

[–] disgrunty@slrpnk.net 3 points 5 days ago

People often (but not always) slide into conspiracies after a trauma or public humiliation. It's a weird sort of comfort for many of them.

"... a new free speech network... to actually talk about the issues people don’t want to talk about.”

Fucking hell, Liz, you absolute lettuce!

[–] letraset@feddit.dk 2 points 5 days ago

Nice catch. I missed that impossible sentence in my first reading. Makes about as much sense as she normally does.

Is it called Cabbage Patch

[–] snaprails@feddit.uk 14 points 5 days ago

Lettuce Connect, so I’m told 🙂

Truss thinks she can be a Trump or a Farage-style populist that can easily get people to jump in on any stupid scheme, but she just doesn't have the charisma to pull it off. Such delusions of grandeur.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 7 points 5 days ago

Who is she even surrounding herself with who has convinced her this is a good idea?

It feels like she's the victim of a long running practical joke at this point.

[–] joe_archer@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

Calling her a former PM is stretching it, she basically killed the queen, crashed the economy and then fucked off.

It might be fun to sign up and then just post unhinged stuff and see what it takes to get banned.

[–] OrgunDonor@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Only lettuce. I wonder what would last longer

[–] DakRalter@thelemmy.club 4 points 5 days ago

Dew it! The lettuce thing really triggers her, doesn't it!

Phil Moorhouse predicted it might just be a Discord channel, which would be hilarious if it turns out to be true.

Who would actually sign up for a Truss social media site? Apart from people joining just to spam her with lettuce memes. Do it, Liz. We need you to make this site! The future is in the balance and only YOU can save it, Liz, by making a social media site that we definitely won't spam with lettuce memes.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago (1 children)

(Until it starts to foment opinions different from her own...)

[–] disgrunty@slrpnk.net 3 points 5 days ago

Post anything about lettuce and get instabanned!

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Oh sod off Liz you knob

[–] grue@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago (2 children)

She saw Xitter and Truth Social and wants in on the grift and propaganda.

[–] letraset@feddit.dk 4 points 5 days ago

I'm almost entirely convinced this is it.

[–] Mrkawfee@feddit.uk 7 points 5 days ago

Zero self awareness

It'll be a dating site for rich married people like Ashley Madison but the only person they can match with will be her.

[–] DakRalter@thelemmy.club 4 points 5 days ago

So basically Pork Markets?

I'm American, so I'm not entirely certain, but she was the Prime Minister of GB a few years ago for something like 11 days? I don't remember, but she famously was outlasted by a head of lettuce not withering before her term in office did. The Queen met her and dropped dead. I have the impression she wanted to be another Maggie Thatcher.

[–] xzot746@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 days ago

Was she voted in or was she handed the position due to someone quitting.

That's what happened in Canada with Kim Campbell and she was voted out at the first election, and same now with Mark Carney, he is the PM now but was not voted in, so we will vote on the 28th to see.

But it does seem like Thatcher and Regan types are back in style.

[–] letraset@feddit.dk 2 points 5 days ago

I'm not sure she cheated on her husband and then got divorced. But I could be wrong. Apart from that, she seems to be only one post away from going on about space lasers.

[–] xzot746@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

That doesn't seem to be saying much though. lol
