- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Anyone paying attention. Leftists have been screaming about it for decades.
I'm old enough to remember Alex fucking Jones screaming about it.. the "police state", or whatever it was that he named a good five or six videos about.

Been there since the start, even before the 1920s/30s "Business Plot" there were Robber Barrons, Plantation Owners and Slavery.
I'd say it's been oligarchy to a degree since the inception of the US. The state has always served the interest of the rich capital owners.
I think people are using "Oligarchy" to describe fascism.
Fascism is simply capitalism in decline looking for a scapegoat for its failures and contradictions.

I'm personally a fan of all the people who called us (and continue to call us) alarmists and who dismiss everything as overreacting

Yes. But it's a VERY big problem when we give them a different name. The typical American doesn't really know what an oligarchy is. Many more are familiar with the concept of fascism. It obscures the issue. Call a spade a spade.
This sounds as observant as the epiphany that you can't breathe under water unassisted.
Oligarchy has existed in the US since its inception. Fascist oligarchy is what has arrived.
I feel like if we were serious about "doing something" then we would have before this point. Now the vast majority of people are just pretending nothing is happening and we'll have a free and fair election in 3.5 years and all the prices will magically go down for the first time in history, and all our rights will be restored.
Nah, you couldn't even be bothered to vote against fascism.
USA was made by oligarchs, for oligarchs. That's the entire purpose of a Republic.
