Make sure you talk to Alfira in the Grove as Dark Urge. Her soothing tunes really calm the urge.

spoilerYou can prevent killing her as the dark urge. When long rest triggers her arriving to your camp, you can load the game, go to her spot in the Grove and knock her out (dont kill her). Then when you long rest, instead of her showing up at the camp, it will be a random Dragonborn. She will then show up at the camp party later.

The random dragonborn is rather well written too, just like many other minor characters
