Pretty sure he could retire and fuck around in improv classes for the rest of his life or whatever it is sketch comedians do for fun
or whatever it is sketch comedians do for fun
Drugs.
well they gave home his own sitcom, and he’s tried his hand at movies, with neither really panning out. So yeah I can see why he wouldn’t want to leave. He doesn’t really have a lot waiting for him outside of snl.
He's been doing this style of show for the longest time. I remember watching him on All That, started in 1994.
Bro's got a good gig. People stay long term at other jobs all the time. Why are people giving him a hard time?
I personally think he's been the weakest member of the cast the entire time he's been on snl. He's got like one role he plays and he can't even stay in character.
That's absolutely fair. I honestly only watch for black jeopardy and the Californians, so you won't see me arguing that snl is great.
But hey, it's a paycheck
I'm shocked that SNL is still on TV. Can't remember the last time I saw a funny sketch. Meanwhile Key and Peele are banging them out one after another.
I watched the first episode of SNL, and have been a fan ever since. I started hearing the "SNL is no good anymore" complaint in Season 2 after Chevy left. It got tiresome after about the 4th season, yet I've kept hearing it for the next 46 seasons. It's not an edgy opinion, it's just lame.
Have you ever watched the first season? Or any of the early seasons, when it was supposed to be so great that it sucks now? People seem to have this idea that every episode introduced iconic characters and sketches, but EVERY episode had sketches that bombed. Most episodes only had one really good sketch, and the iconic sketches, like the Land Shark, or the Bees, or Emily Litella, etc. happened a few times per season. Often, the musical guest was the best thing about the show. Lorne Michaels once said that everybody thinks the SNL era that happened during their high school years was the best era.
If you really want some perspective on SNL, watch Fridays, which is now on Hulu. Fridays was ABC's response to SNL, coming out about 4-5 years later. The first cold open was a sketch about how different they would be from SNL, and then went on to have a clone of SNL in every way, except one - it wasn't funny at all. The studio audience almost never laughs. Once you've watched a few episodes of Fridays, SNL is incredible in comparison.
Fridays was interesting for one thing though - the cast included Larry David and Michael Richards, and the writers included Larry Charles, who all went on to partner up with Jerry Seinfeld to create Seinfeld.
I started hearing the "SNL is no good anymore" complaint
I never said "anymore".
Are you flyingsquids alt? You argue just like him and are also insufferable
No idea what that is but thanks for the unnecessary personal insult.
I wasn't quoting you, i was paraphrasing the basic shallow sentiment you were repeating, which so many people before you have repeated for decades, that it is now generally met with a sarcastic eye roll.
Everything you said implied that something had changed when I never said anything about that.
Why is it "shallow" to not like a show?
I've made my case, and intead of defending your opinion, you want to argue about arguing. I'm bored with you, go away.
Your case is a strawman.
No, it wasnt, i directly addressed your allegation that SNL wasnt funny, which is objectively wrong, since it has been on the air for 50 seasons, and has decent ratings. That's not a Strawman.
You, OTOH, are shifting the goal posts, trying to morph the argument from one you have lost, to an unrelated argument you think you can win, and i already told you i didnt want to argue about arguing. Thats an indication that you have lost.
You are a disengenuous debater, and im not interested in indulging your nonsense.
i directly addressed your allegation that SNL wasnt funny
No, you addressed an allegation that SNL is no longer funny, which I never said, which is the definition of a strawman.
are shifting the goal posts
I'm trying to "shift the goal posts" back to my argument instead of the one you conjured from thin air.
i didnt want to argue about arguing
Then stop doing it.
You are a disengenuous debater
Said the strawman.
When you make an allegation, and that allegation is refuted by the truth, that doesnt make the truth a strawman, it means you're wrong. Now you think that somehow the word "anymore," or the past tense proves your point. It doesn't. Your initial allegation is wrong no matter how you think you are framing it.
Bottom line: Your allegation that SNL isnt funny is wrong, and it isn't even an interesting or new opinion. You are just one in a long line of people who think they are being superior by making that claim. You arent superior, you are tiresome and boring. And the more you argue about arguing, the more tiresome amd boring you become.
Go away, seriously.
When you make an allegation, and that allegation is refuted by the truth
Good thing that never happened.
Bottom line: Your allegation that SNL isnt funny is wrong
Fallacy #2 is presenting your opinions as facts.
You are just one in a long line of people who think they are being superior by making that claim.
Soooo not liking something means I think I'm "superior" to it? Yeah that makes tons of sense...
Go away, seriously.
Takes 2 to tango, buddy. You keep telling me to go away and then you keep coming right back. Feel free to disengage once you've humiliated yourself enough.
Are you still talking? I told you, I'm done. I didn't read one word, so keep wasting your time if it's that important to you, but now you're starting to sound a bit hysterical. Go settle down.
You keep saying you're done but then you keep returning and writing more comments, so it doesn't seem that you are.
Key and Peele isn't running anymore though right?
