I didn't get the job, but it's okay :) I'll just keep studying and applying.

Got a beer and playing rimworld to chill

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago

It's learning experience. You'll get the one you want when you want it.

Sucks now, but opens up more opportunities.

Tonight's wave

No one there which I know is a bad idea but it's very calming for some reason.

[โ€“] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 13 points 2 days ago (3 children)

MissGod has completed the work experience week at the police station and courthouse. None of it super exciting but has made quite a few acquaintances with the local constabulary.

[โ€“] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's probably the single most useful thing anyone can do on work experience. That is, learning that cops are people too (off duty). Police stations and courthouses is where the rubber meets the road in terms of peopleology too.

Couldnโ€™t have said it better myself

That's so cool!

sounds good ๐Ÿ‘

I am now feeding a total of 7 cats.

I don't know how to feel lol

Also, I fucking hate some uber drivers with a passion

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

like a feeder of 7 cats ๐Ÿซฅ

my biggest number was 11 cats but a lot of those were kittens

p.s. we are not cat ladies

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That is a loooooot of kittens. So much chaos and mischief lol

I have become a cat gentleman it seems. So be it. As long as they're fed I'm happy :)

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

I love kitties . ๐Ÿ˜Š

And cat gentleman sounds really nice. ๐Ÿ˜ป

[โ€“] SituationCake@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

You are a kind soul. Any luck finding a rescue organisation that could rehome them? The 11 could turn into 50 very quickly if the cats are not desexed. Cats can become pregnant very young.

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Only 1 bothered to respond to my query. They said to try again in 2 weeks.

Another responded and said call the council.

No way. They'll euthanise them. Better they stay strays than that.

I don't know what to do except keep feeding them. I can't take in any more cats. I'll be leaving here in 6 months and I'm worried what will happen then.

Bit rough out there.

So jumping in soon for the sunset swim. I believe this might be the arse end of the weather system / swell that hit the east coast a few days ago. Sometimes goes over that wall but like that not often.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

That's so cool and totally different to where I am. There's a coral reef off the beach and rocks here and the water is always very calm.
edited for pic, i think we get the tides about an hour after you

Well, first week is over.

Pretty tired but not in a bad way necessarily. Will be nice to have some time to just relax tonight and not be on a timer.

Have a few errands to run then it's home sweet home.

[โ€“] Duenan@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How did it all go at work?

So far so good. Exhausted. Just staying awake long enough to eat dinner pretty much.

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What a perfect little day. My uni meeting got cancelled and the ground floor unit had really loud renovations; I just had to get out of there...

today's jaunt...so first I drove to Carlton North, picked up some lovely pastries, and took them to the office on my day off to share with the few people around for morning tea. This was incredibly well-received. Then made impromptu plans to go to the Yayoi Kusama exhibition with a friend who left work early. Got in at 1:45pm. It was better than I thought (I didn't think much of her pop art and I hate queues and hype but the crowd was not too bad; honestly I preferred her older stuff and I definitely liked that I could see the evolution towards her current style. I appreciate it a lot more now).

Then we went to Yamamoto Udon near Paramount Food Court - exquisitely chilled-out and relaxing between 4-5pm - I had a prawn curry bisque udon and a very yummy Sino-Japanese style squid side dish. My friend got sliced scallops (?) with garlic shoots. All very delicious and the hot and hearty udon was just what I needed on a cold day.

And then we decided on the spot to go watch The Cats of Gokogu Shrine at Kino where, just my luck, it was happy hour. One $6 glass of Shiraz and a super relaxing/healing movie later, I am on the tram home. My cup is nice and full. โ˜บ๏ธ

... Good thing I have absolutely nothing planned for the weekend, guess now that I've had such a beautiful day I'll have enough in the tank to crack on with a bit of uni desktop work and chores.

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 6 points 2 days ago

ooh that looks delicious.

My biggest client decided to call for a Friday late afternoon pow-wow which has properly fried my brain. Ready to check out mentally for the weekend. This week felt like a lot for some reason, but not as shitty as last week so we're on the up.

I just finished the first High School Musical movie. I don't know why the franchise became one of my obsessions as a kid, but there we go.

Am in possession of News (TM) of the unpleasant kind. Attending somebody else's event on my birthday just got a whole bunch more complicated. Drunk and rocking in the corner it is.

[โ€“] SituationCake@aussie.zone 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So sorry that something bad happened. You can just say no to attending the event if you need to.

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago

Thank you. I'd feel worse piking. The person in question is going to have to deal with a rabid camera mob. Chin up, bottoms down!

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 5 points 2 days ago

Have some water and take care of yourself!

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago

So sorry. Be sure to have something to eat and find a kindred spirit to drink with.

I did not know that the Geelong theme song had a second verse.

Not feeling too goodโ€ฆ today I felt cold but now overheating! Must be those flu like symptoms/mild fever from the iron infusion.

Melbcat is sitting with me. Sheโ€™s so beautiful ๐Ÿฅฐ

hugs to both of you ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜

I've been watching Dark again, the German sci-fi series on Netflix.

a few things have jumped out to me as notable but this especially,

From then on, I knew that nothing changes. That all things remain as before. The spinning wheel turns, round and round in a circle. One fate tied to the next. A thread, red like blood, that cleaves together all our deeds. One cannot unravel the knots. But they can be severed. He severed ours, with the sharpest blade. Yet something remains behind that cannot be severed. An invisible bond. On many a night he tugs at it. And then I wake with a start, knowing that nothing ceases to be. That all remains.

I absolutely love that show. One of the very few I've watched from start to finish.

the little back yard is full of bird nests

I suppose that helps explain why there are so many birds around ๐Ÿ™‚

Woke up in the middle of the night last night and wasn't asleep after 15 minutes due to thoughts, so I put on an audiobook. Two hours later, I was asleep again but brain did not work today. I collected worksheets from a couple of students and then two minutes later, I went over to them again asking for their worksheets. Boo

First look at the chilli patch after 2 weeks away:

spoiler

Enough there to start fermenting now :)

Can see a fair bit of leaf curl but no edema. Overwatered but not the worst, will dial that down. Habs a bit shit this year but the thais pulled through alright.

As beach pictures are popular here I thought I should share a photo from my once-in-a-decade trip to the ocean the other day.
