So DOGE can break into ANY INSTITUTION it wants, with enforcement by the US Marshalls? That's insane. This isn't a federal agency at all, it's an independent group!

Literally what the second amendment was written for.

Yeah, why doesn't the Institute for Peace stay strapped to fight Johnny "Law?"

[–] neatobuilds@lemmy.today 10 points 2 weeks ago

Like they pull off the banners and it says institute of war underneath

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 14 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

An independent group with virtually unchecked power and no consequences.

[–] TiggerYumYum@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 weeks ago

They were talking about the US Institute of Peace being the independent group, not DOGE.

The US institute of Pease doesn't have "Unchecked power" they have basically no power. They report to congress, and that's all. Report. They write a bunch of them.

The USIP also trains diplomats in conflict resolution and de-escalation.

The thing is, they had been working in, and with, Ukraine to provide congress with accurate reports on Russia's invasion. This accurately paints Putin as committing a bunch of war crimes, and being an aggressor who will violate every cease fire until he either wins or is driven out of the country completely, in which case he will regroup, rearm, and likely attack again.

As long as Putin is in power, Europe isn't safe. Especially now that Putin has a puppet in charge of the US.

And that's why that puppet ordered the illegal break-in.

So what stops them from issuing a trespass against those incels in this case?

[–] breakingcups@lemmy.world 50 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wonder who'll enforce it. And if they want to get on the monster's bad side.

The localesherif has juristriction on such cases and can arrest on this.

[–] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Pffft! The "local sheriff" is fully supportive of this.

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

there's also a "sovereign Sheriff" movement for people who want to be Judge Dredd

Oh, fuck off.

I don't mean you. This "reality."

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What about a trespass stops them from coming in again the next day?

[–] Maeve@midwest.social 12 points 2 weeks ago

Stand your ground?

[–] grue@lemmy.world 65 points 2 weeks ago

It is truly amazing that none of these burglars have been killed while breaking and entering yet.

[–] kn0wmad1c@programming.dev 41 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

So what's stopping us from breaking into DOGE? Clearly laws don't matter anymore.

[–] DetachablePianist@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

"Laws for thee, but not for me"

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 33 points 2 weeks ago

Institute of Peace needs to go medieval on their asses.

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 33 points 2 weeks ago

Y'all have literal brownshirts now? Gonna need to start an armed resistance.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 24 points 2 weeks ago

I really really hope that one of these days these doge dweebs are going to do something like this, and security just shoots them dead. Musk too if we're lucky.

[–] suite403@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

Normally we arrest people for breaking into anyone's property. Much less government property.
