I can never not hear Homer...
my brain immediately went to the odyssey,
then I had a d'oh moment
I am overwhelmed
So I have to decide between uni A and uni B. I am currently enrolled in uni B. Uni A is 20 minutes closer than uni B. Uni A also will give me a scholarship which would be about half a year of pay at my casual retail job. They also offer paid employment a few days a week next year whilst doing a project that's part of the coursework. This is seemingly a no-brainer, but part of me just wants to stay at uni B? Uni B has a few perks in terms of subject selection which could help with employment, but uni A is pretty much guaranteed experience and employment. Uni A will only let me teach two learning areas, where one I wouldn't feel comfortable teaching unless I absolutely had to, but that learning area is more employable.
The Uni A option will allow me to support myself better financially, but I don't think I'm ready to be thrown into a classroom so soon without any supervision.
I also have to remember that I'm not stuck into any of these, but I have to make a decision on which uni for this year by the end of this week.
This overwhelming paragraph represents the state of my mind right now.
Then I have to pick between piano and guitar lessons because I can't keep doing both. I think keeping piano is something I want to do because it is relaxing and I wanna learn jazz piano. I can figure out piano more on my own, although having lessons will mean more accountability. But I feel like I shouldn't give up guitar because it hasn't been that long and I haven't given it my best shot? My pinky finger refuses to cooperate, and I don't know if it ever will.
You've thought about the pros and cons for each. I would try to push it to the back of my mind for a few days and do other things- let it percolate away in your subconscious.
Come back to it on Friday or whenever you need to decide, and I reckon you'll know what you want.
Uni A.
They sound very caring.
My mum sent me a video where they described a study that found that ADHD symptoms improved when parents stopped giving their kids food with red food dye in it. I consulted the literature and couldn't find the aforementioned study, but some studies say there is a link, but still lots of unknowns.
I wish she didn't take health advice from random people on the internet. The psychiatrist they mentioned in the study is known to be a bit of a snake oil physician.
Also, 'red food colouring' differs between countries/jurisdictions. What counts as 'red food colouring' in the USA and South America for example, is banned in Europe and Australia as being mildly carcinogenic. This happened back in the 1980s. Here we use a different compound for the purpose - eg annatto. So where and when was the original study done? Essential to know exactly WHICH red food colouring is the potential culprit. Also yellow food dye is similar situation. Was that in the original study?????
Actually I think I know that study - it's fairly famous for being deeply flawed in it's methodology and interpretation of results. It also pre-dates the numerical code for additives that we see on labels nowadays. So it's hard to actually compare to modern products however processed in this country.
also worth noting that red food dye in the US is usually hand in hand with massively oversugared foods.
It's not the ADHD that's being managed, it's the sugar crack
Knackered after a 7am start and lots of driving but at least I was up where the air is fresh and the views are scenic. I feel kind of bleah coming back to the city after all that. Oh well. At least I got to escape too much tedious talk in the office before coming home.
Gonna make a mushroom and pea curry tonight thickened with blitzed, soaked cashews... and use all the implements I need, for I do not need to hand wash most of them💃 yayayayay
Good Golly Miss Molly

Pate knives on a small cake stand? Don't know where it came from but I do know it's not going back in my cupboard because I don't have room for ugly.
What's more embarrassing is I've got an unopened bottle of Hennessey I haven't touched yet.
Opinions wanted.
I'm looking to live right by the seaside but it's hard to get a place.
Is it better to get a bit of a shitty place in a wonderful location ( the place I'm in now is a disgrace so it's not like I would be going from a good place to a dump, I'm already in a dump )
or a better place in a worse location?
I reckon I can fix up a place to be more comfortable but I can't actually move a house to a better location.
The classic advice is to buy the worst house in the best street/location. I reckon this applies here too. Location location location.
I'd buy the one that I could pay off the quickest but that's just me.
Melbcat still takes her breaks in the other room and cuddles a lot but she seems to have perked up a bit. She’s often finessing me for treats and I think she can see them - I shook out a few crumbs which she ignored but when I placed a full treat in front of her she went for it instantly.
She also jumped over a small box to go look out the screen door.
Hmm should I consider buying some chicken dim sims this week?
Never eaten before, I usually go for beef.
Also considering trying out some of the Aldi shape biscuits.
For the fungus gnat fighters, I got these sticky sheets in the post today and cut them up into traps approximately the same dimension as these Bunnings ones.
Works out to like 8¢/trap (or less) instead of $1.29/trap. Being able to make dozens means you can get way more coverage. Also customised the size to be wider for my larger plants, and want to experiment with different shapes just for fun.
They seem to be working, too, in just a few hours many have already caught gnats.
work has been so busy that i’m in bed right now going I DUN WANNA before i inevitably get up to go to work
edit: i am outside
Civics quiz this time!. It turns out, I'm smarter than a 6th grader - 100% for me. 😃
Sigh. The zucchinis never did go wild like I hoped. So far I got 4 fruits from 4 plants which I gave to a friend. I wish there had been more to donate to the community pantry. Maybe if I’d kept the original 12 that sprouted!
The issue of course is limited money and space which meant planting them in salvaged pots that were too small, and limited energy/ability leading to not enough fertiliser applications.
I’m still going on that string bag but can’t seem to concentrate enough to get into an automatic groove.
