I'd like to add Broccoli as a database for cooking recipes. It is very convenient, as it extracts the relevant data out of most SEO-inflated webpages.

It is not open source; that is a term with an internationally recognized definition. Even FUTO themselves now acknowledge it is not.
I think they mean it's technically not a 'FOSS' app, but instead a 'source-available' app.
There license strips you of your freedoms. It is not free (libre) or open source. You can fork it but there are arbitrary restrictions that take away your rights.
