What's more American than high rates of gun violence? I think we may have an answer…

They're charging him with maiming? This is straight up attempted murder!

"Maiming is a felony crime in Oklahoma that carries a punishment of up to life in prison."

Probably the initial charge to get him in custody with more coming

He stabbed a flag pole through a guy's head, on purpose, and then said, "he deserved it". That sounds an awful lot like attempted murder.

No. It actually sounds like Attempted manslaughter. There is no planning, no low motives, nothing necessary for a murder charge.

Manslaughter would imply that there was an instigation that lead to unreasonable act that's could result in loss of life. The article says the attacker charged him with the flag pole and attacked. Clearly we don't have all of the information, but unless the victim was doing something that could potentially justify an emotionally charged face stabbing, this reads to me more like attempted murder, 2nd degree since it wasn't premeditated. That and the lack of remorse isn't helping this dude's case. Either way, I think it's more than the maiming of the initial charges.

@Cap mentioned that Maiming is a felony charge in Oklahoma, with a potential for a life sentence.

Edited because linking to the comment didn't seem to work on my end

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

That's interesting. I assume they'll tack on more charges later.

They quoted the prep as saying "he deserved it." Like WTF did the victim do to deserve being impaled like it's fucking 1663 and you're the bannerman for a regiment of Swedish pikemen?

But not all heros wear capes?

It suffered from a lack of moderation. Half the posts were not oniony.
