Oh man I can't wait for this knot of over-torqued springs to explode apart into pieces. Too bad the shrapnel will probably kill us all.
Yeah, one part of the prediction and fears raised about the republicans is it gives them far too much credit to actually run a government.
They have held the house and the Senate before and then been crippled by infighting as with slim majoroties it only takes a few people to hold everyone hostage.
Some of Trumps nominations may not get through the Republican controlled Congress.
People seem to forget the republicans controlled all 3 parts of government in 2016 and didn't get far. Yes they managed some significant things but tax cuts and supreme Court nominations are the main successes.
This time Trump is making batshit crazy nominations which are likely to divide their own party in Congress.
Gaetz nomination is particularly bad as he's hated by a lot of Republican law makers. There are likely enough republicans who actually care about the legal system that his nomination will not get through. If it does get through then it'll be a sign of how bad things can be. But it's likely it will not get through and just sow seeds of discord between Trump and some of the republicans in Congress, poisoning more attempts to change things.
I predict one hell of a shit show over the next 2 years, but probably not from what they do - instead from what they fail to do and the recriminations that follow. All those Republican law makers telling themselves that Trump is diminished, less of a threat, and that they can control him are in for a hell of a ride.
That's basically my only hope. Incompetence, bickering, infighting, and just generally falling apart from within their own hate machine as these kinds of ideologies tend to do.

Trump doesn't let people gain much power around him and neither Musk or Trump play well with others. Elon will be gone soon enough. I've got the popcorn for when the cat-fight starts. Should be fun.
Sure, but Elon is well aware that Diaper Donnie is getting worse every day, and he is trying to be favoured by the king before the royal snuffing.
Much easier and cheaper to fire him out rather than in. Orbital mechanics and all.
Is he (or ANYONE else for that matter) really under the impression that he had any effect on the election one way or the other? That's the biggest sign of arrogance right there.

Obviously, Musk wants to be the shadow president of the USA but I don't think it'll play out as he hopes.
I forgot there were going to be potentially 3 CEOs in the Whitehouse. They're going to get under each other's skin like you wouldn't believe. We're still fucked but the infighting should be quite enjoyable.
As a European, I'm here with a bucket of popcorn in one hand, enjoying the shit show. I'm of course scared for what will happen, and the consequences will impact the entire planet, but since I have absolutely nothing I can do about it, the enjoyment will suffice.

I'm gonna call bullshit on this. For years now, I've been reading articles just like this one, and at the end of the day, nobody that could change anything did a fucking thing. It's just posturing and means nothing.

Actually, things did happen. Many things happened. Your ignorance of them doesn't mean they didn't happen.
In this case we have an incoming chaos presidency. Government by chaos doesn't work well and tends to return to stasis not least because people tend to want to do their jobs. Musk will disappear onto his next ADHD and excessive wealth-fueled adventure, probably Vance will have Trump shuffled quietly to the side (or maybe out a window) and the infighting among cabinet members and political appointees will ensure that few of Trump's "promises" are kept.
There will be lots of damage, many people will suffer, and recovery will take a long time. But out of that things will change.
Yea, lots of things did happen, and most of them were bad. The people that I'm referring to that "could change" things are the republicans that could use their votes to stop tyranny, but none of them did.
I hope that you're correct that we will see change from this, but I don't agree with you that Musk is going to fade into political irrelevance and that JD will sunset Trump.
Everybody hated everybody and I didn't like what Trump was doing, but I fucking did it anyway. Buy my book.
