Related: GTA games are full of parody companies and brands with childish humour and, yes, there's a sportswear brand in GTA called ProLaps. Their motto is "Strain Hard".

[–] Sylvartas@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The one that always gets me is the stock market app being called Bawsaq

[–] Cypher45@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Is that a pun on Ballsack?

Sorry if it was obvious, English isn't my first language.

[–] Sylvartas@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yes, that is basically how one would pronounce "ballsack" with a Scottish accent (Rockstar North, the historical "main" GTA studio, is Scottish). And it is also referencing the IRL Nasdaq

[–] rockhstrongo@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Sounds like this brand name needs a new start.

A NEW START... Hmm...

I got it!

ANUSTART!

[–] aulin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

For that you might need an analyst. Or a therapist?

[–] squigglycunt@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sounds like a Windows start menu replacement.

[–] rmuk@feddit.uk 2 points 2 days ago

"...and she never even saw the license plate."

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

I see you work for the marketing company prolapse hired! Its like shitty hallmark cards!

[–] Orbituary@lemmy.world 112 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Reminds me of the old website for Microsoft Exchange support... expertsexchange.com

Eventually they hyphenated it.

From their FAQ:

Q: Can I provide my own wood? A: In most cases we can handle your wood. We do require all shipments to be clean, free of parasites and pass all standard customs inspections.

[–] Anivia@feddit.org 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ye, but that one is on purpose

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Yeah after reading the whole site, I agree. I just remembered it being mentioned in the same context on QI as the site "expertsexchange".

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 36 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I mean, if I got a sex change, I sure as hell would want it to be done by an expert.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 19 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Amateursexchange.com?

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sex change operations as a hobby, now that's something

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago

It's a fun way to spend a weekend, the most important thing is to rememeber that it's just a fun hobby and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

[–] Maalus@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

/#susanalbumparty lol

[–] usualsuspect191@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 days ago

powergen.italia

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 141 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Domain name was cheap.

Everyone in tech knows you find a domain name first, then decide what kind of business to build around it.

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 96 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Prolapse tech is blowing up and out the door. The back door.

[–] rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world 52 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

That prolapse joke was a stretch.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 40 points 3 days ago (2 children)

You wouldn't get it .... it's an inside joke

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 44 points 3 days ago

It's supposed to be, anyway.

[–] Kalkaline@leminal.space 12 points 3 days ago

"It's an inside out joke" was right there

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I dunno man. It sounds promising. Sounds like something one should goatse for one’s self.

I typed in the URL figuring it wasn't going to be real, but it is.

I'm thinking that there were people in the chain who recognized the issue, but didn't speak up because they thought it would make them look bad. A grass roots emperor's new clothes kind of thing.

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 38 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Maybe they're aware and this is how they get their free advertising ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] a2part2@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

A bit like pen island?

I could believe that. Alternately, someone knew exactly what they were doing and just let it ride to see how far it would get.

I've seen both cases in real life.

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 60 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They are following on the footsteps of Procreate, but missed the concept of nuance.

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What a wonderful day to have a mind

GTA grade name.

(There's already a company in GTA called ProLaps, which is sports equipment)

[–] Koyaanisqatsi@lemm.ee 13 points 2 days ago (5 children)

Stab-lapse. For stabilisation, not for stabbing.

Brought to you by the American National Automation Laboratory Corp?

[–] Buffman@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago

I goatse what they did there.

[–] synapse1278@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago
[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's a pretty good marketing strategy, to be honest. I'm telling all my friends about this as I'm writing this post.

Tek Knight has entered the chat

[–] yesman@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (10 children)

Since it's Halloween, there is a music video about anal prolapse. I'm not going to link to it because it literally gave me nightmares, but search for it if you dare.
