I read that it’s pronounced boh-ops but I still read it as boops

If it's wrong, I don't want to be right

The german name seems to be

Gelbstriemenbrasse

Also:

Like many sea bream, it is a protogynous hermaphrodite, i.e. the female sexual organs mature first and then the male ones. Young fish are therefore females, old and large specimens are males.

... interesting concept.

Swedish one is Oxögonfisk, which looks like a name of a metal band or a weird chemical name.

As written at the very start on Wikipedia:

'from Ancient Greek βόωψ, literally 'ox-eyed'

Ah, so Swedish is literally using "ox eyed fish" as the name.
