That's not even a dog whistle. That's just out in the open racism.

[–] stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I didn't even connect the dots with his skin colour damn wtff. I hope every black American turns against him for this. Show trump how smart they really are...

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 56 points 2 weeks ago

Trump's not racist. He has never said a racist thing in his life! ~/s~

This reminds me of a trump impersonator i talked to at a kendrick lamar concert. I asked him what he thought of kendrick, he responded with oh hes one of the good ones, very talented very talented.

I found the video of me meeting and asking the question.

Hard to imagine being a black republikkklown. Not only are you selling out your family, you're selling your soul. It's pretty pathetic to be honest.

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

This year GOP groups started making the argument that Kamala Harris and Vivek Ramaswamy are ineligible to be president because you have to be white to be a citizen.

That should be every minority dropping the GOP like a hot rock. For notes on what it looks like if you help the people who want to take your rights away win, watch the first season of Handmaid's tale. Specifically the subplot of Serena Joy, the commander's wife. They do not care. The person next to you might care. Your husband might care. Your white friend might care. But the people in charge are going to strip your rights anyways.

If you really wanted to squint and put your fingers in your ears and hum, you might possibly be able to interpret him as talking about congresspeople.

But he was actually talking about black people, so that isn't necessary.

[–] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago

This was my take from this as well.

I mean, it's possible he could have been talking about politicians or government people or something.... But he certainly wasn't. He could have, he did not.

It's only vague enough to convince those living in a trough of disillusionment to be convinced that he wasn't blatantly being racist here.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Maybe Republicans would be a reasonable take, although I don't know anything about this guy to say he's smart, but Republicans tend to be "not quite so good."

Obviously, this is not what Trump meant, but also he was a Democrat before he realized how easy Republicans were to dupe, so he is aware of this fact.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Is Trump aware of anything at this point?

Thank you for explaining it. I have been confused about this for hours. I thought he was talking about congress members. I don't think I could have ever figured it out.

"You see, some negroes can be nearly as smart as white folk. It is hard to believe, I know, but it can happen. Then of course you have the rest who act as god intended them to; in a manner to test the strength of the white man's tolerance."
-- Trump's not so subtle subtext.

[–] Postmortal_Pop@lemmy.world 28 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe he means politicians? He doesn't have a good track record for recognizing people are black.

/s he's racist as fuck.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Obvious racism aside… is this like “bring your hard hat to the rally” day? Get a free mustard dog? Or is he handing these out to people sitting behind him? Or did he hire a bunch of Village People impersonators as extras to increase his crowd size that he cares so much about?

[–] Doom@ttrpg.network 29 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You joke but literally they hire people to be behind him. Usually it is attractive women, POC, working class appearing folk or elderly women. The hard hats probably fit wherever he was speaking trying to claim he's talking to the working class or something

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

do they have a web site or something where I can apply? it's in the name over here lady! I'm a professional clapper!

[–] Jiggle_Physics@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Last I heard they went through things like local modeling, and talent, casting agencies for most of these. Sometimes you will see ads in papers to appear in political publications, commercials, etc. and it ends up that you are in stuffing a rally, they do use images, and video clips, of the rallies, for promotion, and you will likely be in there, somewhere, so it technically isn't lying. It is a lot like how movies get extras.

[–] unemployedclaquer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 weeks ago

i can't even bring myself to post my face on dating apps, so nah.

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Probably a rally at a construction business or something similar.

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Checkout the fake blue collar workers behind him. Nice clothes are hair + a hard hat. Also, who wears a hart hat to a rally speech? Are they expecting debris to fall from above?

It’s always such a fake ass clown show from this weirdo.

(Edit: that said, the guy on the far left is legit, but the two guys in white dress shirts, and the woman who just hit up the styling wand are hilarious. All those hats are brand new)

[–] Moah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 2 weeks ago

He's talking about GOP Reps, right? Right?

[–] LaLuzDelSol@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Source https://youtu.be/iioIRryc4_o Yikes... I think in context he was referring to politicians but he might have mentally been thinking "black politicans".

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 33 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah he "might have been".

You could almost hear him say the silent words... out loud

Perhaps he is talking about JD

[–] Neon@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

my thoughts actually jumped to "scummy politicians" but your explanation also makes sense

[–] Martinphipps@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

To be fair, you can say the same thing about white people. Some of us aren't smart.

[–] TomAwsm@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

You can say the same thing about almost any group of people. But you shouldn't.

[–] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'd rather quote MIB: "a person is smart, people are stupid, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it."

[–] crapwittyname@lemm.ee 4 points 2 weeks ago

Here's a related one:

the IQ of a mob is the IQ of its most stupid member divided by the number of mobsters
