His campaign team got in a physical altercation with staff because using an Army National Cemetery for campaign purposes is illegal...

So the campaign person who fought staff did the thing you'd expect from the trump campaign:

Accused the staff of having a mental health episode.

"This person rightfully tried to stop us from breaking the law like we usually do so obviously the guy is mentally unfit to work in a cemetery."

Yes, thumbs up for dead soldiers. WTF?

[–] numbermess@fedia.io 32 points 2 months ago

What patriotic Christian American wouldn't want this fat sweaty lying sack of makeup wearing shit flashing a big toothy grin and the weakest looking thumbs up gesture that is even physically possible dangling his guts over the grave of their own dead child on the grounds of a sacred national monument? Let's get real.

I really hope that isn't somebody's widow standing next to him.

That is the grave is of Sgt. Nicole Leeann Gee. She died in the 2021 Kabul airport attack along with 181 other people.

A withdrawal that was planned and led by Trump up until Biden took over.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020%E2%80%932021_U.S._troop_withdrawal_from_Afghanistan

As part of the United States–Taliban deal, the Trump administration agreed to an initial reduction of US forces from 13,000 to 8,600 troops by July 2020, followed by a complete withdrawal by 1 May 2021, if the Taliban kept its commitments.[10] At the start of the Biden administration, there were 2,500 US soldiers remaining in Afghanistan and, in April 2021, Biden said the US would not begin withdrawing these soldiers before 1 May, but would complete the withdrawal symbolically by 11 September.[11][12]The Taliban began a final offensive on 1 May and, on 8 July, Biden moved up the completion date to 31 August.[13][14] There were about 650 US troops in Afghanistan in early August 2021, tasked with protecting Hamid Karzai International Airport and the US Embassy in Kabul.[15][16]NATO's Resolute Support Mission concluded on 12 July 2021[17] while US intelligenceassessments estimated as late as July that Kabul would fall within months or weeks following withdrawal of all American forces from Afghanistan, the security situation deteriorated rapidly

Trump essentially dancing on the grave he put this person in and blaming Joe Biden.

If the family invited him then ok, no judgment. They knew what they were getting.

As a former service member, this is fucking discussing. Thumbs up photo op over a fallen service members grave, fuck him in his big orange stained face.

The big issue is that there are rules and laws relating to Arlington and it not being used for campaign or partisan photo ops etc which is what they did

[–] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 months ago

The family of the fallen doesn't have the authority to change the rules for Trump or anyone else. Even with them allowing it, he still didn't have permission and was violating federal law. Again.

That's before assaulting the staff member that tried to uphold the rules+law.

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 34 points 2 months ago

Not the first time.

After Trump snubbed the WW1 dead at the Centennial ceremony he tried to make up for it by getting a photo op of him going to Arlington in the rain.

At least she's using the right hand gesture. Always appropriate to throw the goat when standing next to the antichrist

Isn't that the gesture used by people to acknowledge the existence of the deep state?

[–] blazeknave@lemmy.world 24 points 2 months ago (1 children)

My 7 year old literally feigned crying at each grave there a few wks ago, bc he understood that's the right way.

Please, someone notice an extra finger or arm somewhere. This has to be AI, right? Please? Surely no one is this tone deaf.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Nope. Trump and his campaign went for a photo op in DC’s veteran cemetery. Campaigning and taking press pictures is banned in this part of the cemetery, but his campaign pushed groundskeepers out of the way so they could do press event on soldiers graves.

My aunt died in 2013 and at the funeral my cousin (her step-son) suggested that the whole family make a "Harlem Shake" video. He at least had the dignity to not suggest including my aunt in it. He is a huge Trumper (and DeSantisite) which fits the pattern of these people not being able to human very well.
