I found a very good - albeit not perfect because of the bead-blasted finish - match for my Reylight Pineapple Mini Ti! Such a small, light and useful package, and in my eyes really beautiful! What do you think?

That utility knife is sick

How easy is it to change the blades?

[–] Etnaphele@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The sliding mechanism is as easy as it is genious: the blade is held “up” by the 4 shiny magnets you see in the picture. By pressing the blade down, it is then free to slide to one of the two cutting positions or all the way out to change it. So really easy.

I have always had the smallest utility I could find while still being useful as a knife. I was really intrigued when I found the one you're using, but I couldn't justify 80 bucks for that little thing when my current is maybe 3/16 bigger for 4 dollars.

May I ask what you do/ use it for and how you've liked it so far? I can agree it's beautiful but gotta know how it functions.

The price is astronomical for a cutter, yet there aren’t any with the feature set it offers. It depends if the ownership of something unique and carrying a miniature yet useful overengineered tool is something that matters to you. In my case, the choice landed here for:

  • office and work commuting EDC
  • extreme compact form factor: being able to leave it in the fifth pocket was really helpful in a couple of situations
  • fit and finish that could match the similarly small flashlight
  • fidgety and novelty factor
  • “buy it for life”: no moving parts, solid chunk of titanium
  • I like to reward some small private life achievements with these king of “unnecessary” things :)

On the functioning:
+ really easy to slide open one handed
- Ti pocket clip quite stiff, so not as easy to take out
+ decent fidgety factor
- pushing the blade with the edge touching a side can blunt it (I think I fidgeted a lot with it at first and then had to sharpen it slightly again - solution is to take care of pushing the blade away from the side)
+ in use, it does its job very well, nothing to complain there

So: not flawless, but I love it and have it with me every day!

That razer knife is slick! $85 on Amazon.

I bought it directly on their website with shipping to the EU + import tax, so I paid a bit more than that, but really satisfied with it. A really one of a kind product! No moving parts and it weighs 24g with blade in.
