Saw a picture of a canceled check online. Was wondering if it was real.

Yup. From the California Secretary of State site.

This is embarrassing. He should probably drop out of the race to get out of the spotlight.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 33 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He should probably choke on a hamberder.

[–] InternetUser2012@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago

To be fair, I'm a little shocked he hasn't choked on Putins cock. That guy must be hung like a gerbil.

[–] todd_bonzalez@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Don't give them ideas. The only silver lining to a possible second Trump term is his staggering incompetence. He drops out and they replace him with someone just as evil, but more capable.

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

But would they find anyone else with such a cult following?

And how long would the chaos last as people tried to take Donald’s spot?

[–] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 72 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Donald J Trump donating THOUSANDS to Democrats proves NOTHING! But Thomas Crooks giving $15 to Democrats PROVES he was ACTUALLY a Democrat!

[–] baru@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Wasn't that 15 dollar donation done by someone from a different state and the same name?

[–] meep_launcher@lemm.ee 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Nope, they confirmed it was him.

My take though is that it was ~4 years ago- he was 17. My politics between 17 and 20 did a 180 so I don't see it as any damning evidence of his political affiliation.

They looked at his search history and he also was looking up Biden and other politicians of different political affiliation- this is just conjecture but he may have chosen Trump merely because he was the easiest to get to. The kid was angry at the world and wanted to kill someone in power.

The only thing we know for sure, is that we don't know and can't know the whole truth. It died with him. That take generally too scary for most people to accept, so any explanation gives us comfort.

Same name, same zip code, allegedly different person. I haven't seen any updates on the allegedly bit, but all signs point to that kid being anti-dem his whole life. (My assumption is a joke/insult donation in his name...source: I have done this to people and sent them the receipt.)

My wife's pet theory is he lost a bet

[–] Evilcoleslaw@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Same name, same street address, but the city listed on the donation was wrong. It was listed as Pittsburgh instead of New Bethel, PA. But the street address does not exist in Pittsburgh.

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 51 points 2 months ago

It was just reported by Act Blue that they received 27 million dollars in the first 5 hours after the announcement.

[–] radivojevic@discuss.online 18 points 2 months ago (5 children)

That doesn’t say much. He was probably invited to a political fundraiser and he likes to flash his cash. I’ll bet he donated to plenty of republicans before 2016

[–] KevonLooney@lemm.ee 48 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's sad though. He doesn't remember it because his mind is so far gone. I think the media needs to call for a few press conferences where they ask him pointed questions about it until he flubs a few words. Then they should ask him more questions about what he just said.

[–] radivojevic@discuss.online 22 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think he also has selective memory when it comes to whatever works in his favor at the moment.

[–] KevonLooney@lemm.ee 17 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Whatever cognitive impairment he has, his brain is not good. It'll be a miracle if he can form a sentence by the time of the debate with Kamala Harris. I expect the news media to scrutinize his every sentence, as we know they always do with older presidential candidates.

[–] radivojevic@discuss.online 9 points 2 months ago

I don’t really see the media going line by line pointing out how he’s lying 99% of the time. Or preventing those obvious lies from reaching the ears of the people.

If they did, his speeches would be as redacted as an Epstein document.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It’s not supposed to say much. It’s a jab at the asshole.

[–] radivojevic@discuss.online 10 points 2 months ago

Some people might consider a jab at the asshole a good time.

[–] kbin_space_program@kbin.run 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Recall that his family and the Clintons, before the 2016 run, used to be very close friends.

To the point that Bill Clinton and him have both admitted to having a several hours long phone call shortly prior to him running for the GOP primary, but they both "swear politics never came up".

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He did it because he was being prosecuted and was hoping for political favors again.

[–] radivojevic@discuss.online 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What was he being prosecuted for?

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Pretty sure I read Trump University. Can't remember where I read it. Or I would provide a link.

[–] radivojevic@discuss.online 2 points 1 month ago

That’s probably right. I recall it being around that period.

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It can be used to influence dumbfuck undecideds.

[–] radivojevic@discuss.online 2 points 1 month ago

I’m not sure they would understand.

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

She should donate money in that amount to a woman's shelter and say she doesn't want it, and "this is now the only beneficial thing Trump has ever done for women."

https://www.npr.org/2024/07/22/g-s1-12696/kamala-harris-donation-trump-election

But Harris did not keep the $6,000 from Trump. A spokesperson told the Sacramento Bee in 2020 that she donated the money to a "nonprofit that advocates for civil and human rights for Central Americans" in 2015, by which point she had been reelected and was launching her bid for the Senate.

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Dang, she beat me to it

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Omg that’s why he hates her

[–] Myxomatosis@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

It will be hilarious when Pedo Donnie loses to Kamala.

[–] Trainguyrom@reddthat.com 4 points 1 month ago

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but while funny I don't think this is the smoking gun that some people seem to believe it is

[–] MrPoopbutt@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Are all political contributions publicly searchable?

[–] meliaesc@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Yes, legally.

[–] fubarx@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

For U.S. Federal campaigns, you can search the FEC database for individual contributions: https://www.fec.gov/introduction-campaign-finance/how-to-research-public-records/individual-contributions/

When searching, if you don't get any results, be mindful of time filters and also spellings.

For other types of contributions (PACs, etc): https://www.fec.gov/introduction-campaign-finance/how-to-research-public-records/

For State races, each state maintains their own. The one above was for California where Harris was running for state office.

Another good resource is https://www.opensecrets.org

[–] Resol@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Little did he know she was coming to bite him. Now is she gonna beat him, we don't know yet.
