That would require him to be dead. Which is fine by me.

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Just realized this is the perfect time of year to stock up on some fireworks. That level of evil leaving the government (formally or influentially) absolutely merits celebration!

...there are a few of those fucking cockroaches whose passing would justify lighting up a few celebratory 'splosions.

[–] jas0n@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

That is a great idea. I'm in.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I loath fireworks, but I would drop some cash and blow them up in celebration.

I've said this many times, and I'll keep saying it until people understand:

Trump is more dangerous dead than alive.

His cult status would increase 10-fold, and if you think Trump supporters are annoying now, you don't want to know how they would be if they worshipped a martyr, saint, whatever.

This is what happened to Venezuela under Chávez. You don't have to believe me. Look it up.

Plus I want that asshole to be in prison. I know the probability is slim given how the justice system treats him. But I can't be hopeful if he's dead. Lock him up!

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago (2 children)

They have nobody who can hypnotise the masses the way he can. While the fascists will undoubtedly still be dangerous, the "movement" (yes, I'm aware who else called it that) will fizzle out.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Just because the Republicans have yet to bring another fascist that has the charisma that Trump has, doesn't mean they won't have a fascist with the amount of charism of trump had.

Trump wasn't an aberration, he's the new normal for Republicans. It's just a matter of time before the next person who knows how to jingle their keys in front of the idiot masses and they find a new 'god emperor' to obsess over. And with our luck, they won't be nearly as stupid and incompetent as trump is.

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I wish you were right, but again... that's what people thought of Chávez. Don't underestimate the stupid.

[–] Drusas@kbin.run 43 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Like he could be if he tried.

[–] SuckMyWang@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

His base loves it. Such great people

[–] Fixbeat@lemmy.ml 29 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Biden doping? Trump must be doing it then. Projection is their bread and butter.

[–] hypnoton@discuss.online 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

There is nothing wrong with legal, doctor prescribed medicine to enhance one's performance in a debate.

We all wanted the state of the union Biden, not this...

It's going to be sad in retrospect when 20mg of adderall could have been the difference between democracy and heil Dear Leader Trump. I am praying for a series of miracles now.

[–] Fixbeat@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 months ago

I will take “Weekend at Bernie’s” Biden over Trump. Biden should do whatever it takes to win.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago (1 children)

'Trump allies urge him not to act like Donald trump at debate'

[–] style99@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago

Like urging water to not be wet.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago

But isn't being an asshole a feature for the magabrained?

[–] Kowowow@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 months ago

Mean while biden should "How are things going for you poor boy? I heard you had to get your oil buddies to lend you some cash."

[–] orcrist@lemm.ee 9 points 2 months ago

I like how they already frame it as him taking the bait. Because they're desperate to have an excuse, and they want to blame the moderator or his opponent for tricking him into being an a******.

They know that he will, they know that he'll say ridiculous things, and they're trying to come up with as many preemptions strategies as they can.

[–] rickdg@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

Trump can do wtf he wants, the bar is always much higher for Biden to clear.

[–] mozz@mbin.grits.dev 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

What else is he gonna be though that would ever work for him?

That is a 100% serious question.

[–] rickdg@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

People considering Trump already know he’s a dumb criminal that satisfies their bias against politicians and paying taxes. He can do no wrong, bonus points if he makes them laugh.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Good luck with that.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

I'm afraid it would help his chances if he were.

[–] sr_388@mastodon.social 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Anxiously awaiting what kind of insane, senile rambling is going to take place.

[–] 242@lemmy.cafe 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Trump is like a child. He's going to shape himself in the image of the people who love him and give him approval. That's the evangelicals. They love it when he's an asshole who "owns the libs". Expect maximum asshole.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Like he wasn't an asshole before?

[–] randon31415@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Has Trump been coherent for anything recently? Can they, through whatever means, get him into a coherent state for this?

[–] Zron@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

recently

He was coherent in the past?

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Each campaign, according to senior sources in both camps, has calculated in recent weeks that their opponent can be easily baited into “self-destructing” on live TV, potentially damaging their appeal to swing and independent voters.

When he was in the White House, he so regularly gamed media outlets into lauding his temporarily subdued “tone” or fleeting “presidential” behavior here and there, that he would literally laugh about it with aides.

“President Trump takes on numerous tough interviews every single week and delivers lengthy rally speeches while standing, demonstrating elite stamina.

This month, Trump has been holding a series of closed-door “policy discussions” with a rotating gallery of advisers and confidants to help prep for the upcoming faceoff with Biden.

In some private conversations this month, Trump has indeed conceded that he knows Biden is going to try to bait him into acting “crazy” during their first 2024 debate, two sources familiar with the matter tell Rolling Stone, and has said several of his advisers are saying “I should be nicer” onstage in Atlanta.

If Trump takes their collective advice to the hilt, it could easily prove to be a nightmare for his campaign brass, his supporters on Capitol Hill, and others in the Republican elite.
