Anything in excess is bad for you. Even water.

We must beware of the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

My great grandpa ingested dihydrogen monoxide every day of his life, often more than once. And now he's dead.

Having to come to terms with that. I usually don't drink enough, like less than a litre on some days if I don't notice it, so after contemplating a purchase of a Stanley Cup knock-off for months, I finally bought one and started drinking water like a maniac. Like 4-5l per day. Have to actively keep myself in check not to drink too much. Although, it's been quite hot recently so maybe it's not as dire as I make it out be

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 2 points 2 months ago

only bad effect im aware of is passing out because of electrolyte dilution.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

[–] TheRedSpade@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

No, it's called overhydration and, in extreme cases, water toxicity.
