jackett (by the way thanks to those suggesting it here!) lists hundreds of indexers... but how to choose which ones to focus on? Is there an updated repository with some stats and indexing by category, popularity and easiness of access, or forums with reviews? Some basic google searches provide SEO optimized pages listing some of the most popular ones but was wondering whether there was some "insider" "awesome-torrent" repo with this kind of info, thanks!

Are private trackers really that necessary if you jusr pirate a movie, series, and maybe a game every now and then? A lot of them seem to be a bit of a hassle or require payment to get into when the good ol' pirating sites do none of that.

If you find everything elsewhere and are happy with the speeds then probably not. Ever not find anything? Then you may want to look into it

  • "Are they worth the effort"
    • Depends on your need for quality. Some get reposted from private trackers.
    • Out of 10 downloads how often do you search for a good quality 1080p/4K? If the answer is yes, I'd recommend TL. If it is more look around for a bit more prestige ones like Blutopia.
  • "A lot of them seem to be a bit of a hassle"
    • Usually login in a time frame of 30 days (read the rules. Depends on the site)
  • "or require payment"
    • Don't even bother. Usually trackers will ask for a donation to offset the server/hosting/admin costs and/or give perks for donating.
