How do you validate age over the internet?
You have to go somewhere to register in person and then you have to do Face ID to log in.
Face ID, you are even more dystopian than I thought.
People use their Face ID all day every day. What are you talking about? You don’t think Apple has all that data?

The internet was better when everyone was just a random username and people didn’t use their real names for everything.
The execution is poor but I don’t se anything wrong with restricting kids from accessing porn. Especially violent porn. Some of the toxic and violent behavior men exhibit in society is due to porn.

You need to understand privacy laws and understand it’s the fucking parents responsibility to protect their kids from things they don’t want them to see.

Why don’t we let kids into adult video stores or sex shops? We live in a digital world and it’s time to put the keyboard away if you can’t get with that. There is a solution whether your cave brain can handle it or not. Idk what it is yet, but it can be done effectively and as safely as you give away your info the people online today.
Or and hear me out, parents could parent their children! Monitor your children's internet, put the basic amount of effort into learning how to block websites, do some form of parenting and stop trying to be your kids friends.

Well one way we can solve that is adding a section about internet safety to parenting classes.
At the end of the day the parents are responsible for their children's actions, maybe we should add some consequences for those actions.
Yes it is. As long aa almost anybody can create a life whenever they can/want, we will live in a world where some people will not be effective parents. If you have children you will understand that it takes a lot of time, effort and foresight to be a good parent. It’s intentional and doesn’t just happen. Not everybody is going to or is capable of doing it.
You’re speaking my language now. I totally agree that we need education on parenting whether you’re going to be a parent or not. If you’re willing to go towards restrictions on having children then we’d be on the same page. Nobody wants to do that tho, so this is the alternative.
One of my controversial views is, you should have to get a licence to have a child, like passing a teat to prove you can be a parent. If we have to pass a test to drive a killing machine, they should have to pass a test to not raise a killing machine.
totally agree. the idea to restrict access to social media is out of desperation because nobody wants to put restrictions on creating life.
Yes it’s called installing blockers on your children’s devices or controlling their access to the internet till an age that you personally are ok with your child accessing the internet. Teaching them critical thinking and internet literacy would go a long way as well.
How about instead of getting triggered that your corporate daddy isn’t nannying humanity, go out and put some effort into parenting your own children and teaching them better?

You clearly don’t have children or are around people with children or you would understand how much poor parenting happens. It’s way too easy to have kids. You need to solve for that or else you need to do the parenting for them.

Cause clearly you don’t understand what’s a parent’s responsibility is.
No single entity needs control over who does or doesn’t have access to the internet and you don’t need to control the parenting of others.
That’s call being a dictator.
Regardless of whether I have children or not, I would hope you would understand that being a good parent is intentional and not everybody is equipped or willing to do that especially if they didn’t intend on having children to begin with. You’re in a fantasy world if you think you can just expect everybody to be a good parent. That’s like expecting everybody to a good citizen. It’s not gonna happen. Unless you want to put restrictions on who is capable and allowed to bring life into the world, then you need another solution to parent those children who were born to bad parents. It’s for the protection of their children and for your children who will live in the world with them.

Smaller ones are often the most fri he a d problematic so no, they’re not off the hook. Same way you wouldn’t give your credit card to a rando shop online.
Your Face ID would need to be registered somewhere else with to validate that you registered your face and not your dog. Big problems need big solutions.
What suggests to you smaller ones are the most problematic?? When I think of younger people interacting online I think of big places like TikTok, I don't think of a random mastodon server.
The issue is not that a dog turned up to get a picture of their face, it's that if I have a picture of your face now I can pretend to be you. Woof.
Think about 8chan and other underground social sites that are breeding grounds for radicalized youth.
Apple has pictures of all of our faces. Companies have your voice if they want. It’s too late to worry about that. Anybody can be you if they want to. Eventually they could do it with a single photo if not already.
