Walmart works after midnight? If shops here were open this late I'd probably do all my shopping at 2am

Most of the 24 hour Walmarts and similar stores in my area stopped doing that during COVID, and then never did again. Most close at 10 or 11. I miss going into Meijer at 3am and getting... Whatever I wanted ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

You'd think they'd want less people in the store at the same time so why reduce the hours for Covid?

At the time it was so that they could sanitize everything in compliance with what the CDC was telling them. In 2020 and into 2021 they actually had a pile of people in the store cleaning every surface overnight. Then, like magic, they stopped.

Now it's because they can employ fewer people. We're still beholden to places like that because we have to buy groceries. If they could get everyone in the city in and out in an hour they'd happily do it no matter what we thought. But competition being open later forces them to be open longer.

Ah ok at least the initial thought made some sense

Yeah I was going to say I don't know of any 24-hour shops anymore. It's a shame too because I don't understand how people who work night shifts are supposed to get anything done anymore it's not like you can order online for delivery at 4:00 a.m.

I used to do this when I lived near a 24 hour grocery store. Good times.

Same. But then I had kids, and shopping at 2AM doesn't work well when kids get up at 6-7am...

I have made a similar discovery via similar methods.

I dearly love my progeny, but occasionally there are things I miss from before this life.
