From the Atlanta Daily World:

The highly-anticipated debate between President Joe Biden and Donald Trump left more questions than answers. Both candidates struggled at times leading to apathy for some voters who shared their thoughts online.  President Biden appeared sluggish at times and combined talking points. Trump failed to answer questions and often spewed misinformation. There were no real winners … Continued

It's "too late" from the standpoint of getting anyone new on the ballots for all 50 states isn't it?

The Democratic National Convention hasn’t happened yet, which is where the party selects their candidate. Generally the selected candidate at the DNC is the winner of the individual state primaries. So he could step down and the party simply picks someone else at the convention.

The DNC could also just say anyone else is the nominee.

The primary is nonbinding as the DNC keeps saying.

The thing is Biden appointed the head of the DNC, so the DNC is very unlikely to go against him. But they could if they cared more about stopping trump than backroom favors

Who’s going to have a chance four months away from the election?

That strategy would hand the win to Trump.

Look at Biden's poll numbers...

Someone that no one knows with a D by their name is still going to be "not trump" and get every single vote that Biden will get.

Along with the votes of people that can't ignore a genocide, that can't ignore human rights abuses at our own border, or any of the other areas where Biden is significantly more conservative than Dem voters.

The more people know about Biden, the less they support him. That is why a completely unknown "empty suit" has a better chance at stopping trump

Bonus points if they're not two decades past the retirement age for their generation

You’re misunderstanding the generic democratic nominee.

It’s just a way to measure liberal vs conservative policy without a face and the baggage and positives they bring to the table.

Who is a potential candidate who will be election ready in four months, because it’s not going to happen.

I think people are forgetting Biden is president right now and is doing a damn fine job of it.

What do you think "election ready" means?

Because with the current state of things, to me it just means their name goes on a ballot.

Don't you remember the hype about how much Biden prepped for this debate? And this is what we got.

and is doing a damn fine job of it

You may hold that opinion, Biden definitely holds that opinion. But most Dem voters dont believe it.

Not everyone shares your opinion on things, and we know that because polling is a thing.

Who is a potential candidate who will be election ready in four months…

Are you unable to answer my question, because I’m answering yours.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Elizabeth Warren

Kamala Harris

AOC

Bernie (but he wouldn't run)

Pete Buttigeig (he'd be just as bad, but he'd be easier to get elected)

Happy?

My point was "election ready" is meaningless.

Are you unable to answer my question, because I’m answering yours

You literally didn't...

What do you think “election ready” means?

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Ready for an election, I didn’t know you needed an answer for that because it seemed rhetorical.

How can it be? Like what would have happened if he died?
