Mate. You're on the internet. Is it really so hard to search something like this? You've got everything you need in the headline. Highlight, copy, paste into search engine and you have the world's information at your fingertips.
Don't be an ass. I read about this today and didn't know jack shit. If I didn't read the newspaper as much as I did I wouldn't know anything about this. This is worthy content that spread discussion. Why are you acting like there is nothing worthy in this post? some of us want to talk with others about things, not mindlessly search google like some borg collective member.
I'm not against the submission. I'm against the willful ignorance and the absolute lack of initiative on the part of the person I responded to... so much that they didn't even bother looking anything up for themselves before commenting with one single word.
Everything about Sinead and everything about the one incident she is most famous for comes up with just a search of her name. Searching the topic of this submission gives exact context. And it's one click away. https://i.imgur.com/uhXZj4w.png - Literally. Right click, search. It's built into virtually every browser now. But instead, people want things handed to them instead of being willing to learn on their own accord.
I do not believe for one second that a good use of forums is to answer questions that can be answered by the first result on even the world's worst search engine. What good is a discussion when it's only answering every question for people too lazy to look the most simplest of details for themselves?
If "mindlessly search[ing] google" makes one like "some borg collective member", then the problem is you, mate. You end up taking pride on your refusal to educate yourself.
"There is a cult of ignorance ~~in the United States,~~ and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that ~~democracy~~ discussion means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' " - Isaac Asimov
Be better. If you're not willing to make the effort for yourself, why should others bother making the effort for you?
Dude I just finished a masters degree in social sciences, I don't need a lecture on the use of search engines. Just trying to tip you off to your lack of social etiquette.
"I'm educated therefore I know more than you even though I've clearly demonstrated that I'm talking out of my ass and acting like a petulant child about it."
More power to you, mate.
No that's not what the point is about. You are intentionally confusing issues here because you want to be mad and upset. I was just outlining that I know how to search. I'm sure we agree on more than we do not but you are making it difficult to have a civil conversation that leads anywhere positive. Have a nice day
No, the point is that you wanted sit on your high horse and were even willing to use the "see, I'm educated" card.
If you're going to say "hey, don't be an ass," maybe you best not behave like an ass yourself.
PS: Congrats on your degree. Nobody on the internet really cares but keep waving that around when you think it'll boost your position. That'll always work. For sure.
