Didn’t PrivacyGuides emerge from some kind of drama on Reddit? Could they have gone back there rather than staying here?
Their own forum is more active nowadays
https://discuss.privacyguides.net/
In their announcement about starting up that site the most up voted post asked a lot of questions, it was never answered. The questions were about site privacy.
I think I have looked at it three times since they started. It seemed like there were only a few posters, they were prolific though.
The interface sucks, I have zero interest in making a new accout, and it has a ton (67) of JavaScript requests.
I wish they were active here, they are not though.
Hopefully once Discourse integrates ActivityPub it will be easier to follow what's happening there
Summary of the drama: https://old.reddit.com/r/PrivacyGuides/comments/pnhn4a/rprivacyguides_privacyguidesorg_what_you_need_to/
Which isn't really relevant, it happened 2 years ago, long before the instance was created.
There must have been, of course, another side to the drama.
If you’re looking to start over somewhere off .ml, and who could blame you?, why not just create a new community on an instance that is definitely still maintained?
Because !privacyguides@lemmy.one already has 15.8k subscribers. Much easier than to start from scratch.
What’s the point of ghost subscribers? If they’re no more active than the mods or admins, they may as well not exist.
If you really want to migrate, just post that your community is moving and do it.
!privacyguides@lemmy.one also has 2.22k monthly active users.
In comparison !privacy@lemmy.world has 1k mau, and !privacy@lemmy.ca has 317.
Looks like you’ve found your new community. Jump in and start contributing.
I posted three times to !privacyguides@lemmy.one in the last 2 days.
However, due to the fact that the community seems unmoderated, I now post to !privacy@lemmy.ca, 5 posts since yesterday.
What about you?
