Apparently insurance companies can refuse to cover flood damage for new buildings in flood areas. I wonder how that works for that new housing development: will potential buyers have to be told before the sale that they won't be able to get insurance for flood damage, or is that just something that they'll have to discover on their own?
"De verzekeraar kan weigeren dekking te verlenen voor het overstromingsrisico van het gebouw, een deel van het gebouw of de inhoud van het gebouw dat is gebouwd meer dan 18 maanden na de bekendmaking in het Belgisch Staatsblad van het koninklijk besluit waarbij het onroerend goed in een risicogebied wordt ingedeeld (art. 129 van de wet van 4 april 2014 betreffende de verzekering)."
