Whenever you learn a fun word in a language you speak natively or fluently, share it here! I personally will be posting only English words for now, but other languages are welcome if anybody else wants to contribute!

If you want to share a word, please provide the word, the definition and the context in which you found it. That way we can see the word in use.

Picaresque (ttrpg.network)

Today I learned the word Picaresque!

adjective: picaresque

relating to an episodic style of fiction dealing with the adventures of a rough and dishonest but appealing hero.

//

The context was "If you run multiple sessions do it picaresquely, where each session is a self-contained episode.", talking about running a TTRPG campaign for young children.

If I was not in to Tabletop RPGs I do not think I would ever have an excuse to use this word. That said, I am and I run them for my kids semi-regularly so I will for sure be using this word whenever anybody asks me about my hobbies from now on.

Awkwardly constructed and only relevant to the first half of the definition you listed directly above it. Maybe, stick with "episodic" unless your kids are running "rough and dishonest but likable" characters
