Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
The rules are simple:
- The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author's website, for instance).
- The comic must be a complete story.
- If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
- You may post comics from others or your own.
- If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
- The comic can be in any language, but if it's not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post's 'body' field (note: you don't need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
- Politeness.
- Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.

None of these are hot takes lol.
ayo did you remove your own vote how are you at zero.
Maybe they're just not very confident about their posts.
Yes. I think it is a conflict of interest to upvote my own post. Of course I think I contribute to the conversation, but that is not for me to decide.
Everybody’s vote total is defaulted to 1. Nobody upvotes themselves. Removing your vote just makes it less likely people will see your comment.
Everyone's posts are upvoted by themselves by default, so by retiring your upvotes from your posts, you are, in practice, removing visibility from your posts, thus handicapping them, rather than giving them a fair shot.
I rely on the Gs who sort by new.
You downvote the default score in order not to do something you never did?
I remove the upvote, not downvote.
Lemmy doesn't auto vote for your own comment/post. We aren't that narcistic here. Every comment starts at 0.
I can see on Kbin who upvoted even, and you didn't upvote your comment.
Edit: I've learned it varies by your portal!
Lemmy does, Kbin doesn't. Lemmy also gives your Kbin comments an upvote. On Kbin you can't see the auto upvote or any downvotes IIRC.
Every Lemmy app I've used on Android auto-up-votes one's own posts and comments. Mainly been using Sync and Voyager.
I haven't seen an easy way in them to see who did the votes, but I do assume that's available info to some clients.
Yes it does. Observe.
How are we to know you didn't just upvote yourself after posting?
Still at 0 here on Kbin. shrugs
Yeah, at least online these are all very common opinions. I think the pineapple on pizza opinion is actually the most controversial take he listed.
Pineapple on pizza is just people with different tastes. Everyone has their favorite foods and what they dont like...
I'm for it.
I feel about Pizza the way I feel about burgers, put anything you want on there, I'll try it.
I've had a burger with pineapple on it. It was delicious
Right. And don't topping-shame, bro!
Slightly hotter, but still quite tame take:
Ham is the problem with Hawaiian pizza. Pineapple is innocent.
What? Ham is like the 2nd best pizza topping after only pepperoni.
The ham used on pizzas around here (northeast US), usually isn't salty enough to work on a Hawaiian pizza. It's often deli ham, which runs the risk of being sweet, but otherwise flavorless.
Bacon or pepperoni work better. Jalapeno also helps.
Gorgonzola works even better with pineapple, than bacon, prosciutto, or pepperoni
Ah, so your objection is only with pineapple. See, I don't do pineapple on pizza not because I think it's unholy, but simply because I don't like pineapple in general. I thought you just objected to ham on pizza on principle; I can't speak to it as a companion for pineapple.
It's hard to see where I'd choose it over another topping, but I imagine with most pizzas I don't really care about ham's failings.
Pineapple and anchovies might be the two stanard toppings that are really build-arounds. Most other standard pizza toppings seem closer to "do whatever, it'll be fine"
Parma ham and Parmigiano pizza is awesome
That does sound great! Ham isn't necessarily a bad ingredient, it's just unusually difficult to tell if it'll be good or it'll suit your tastes, especially with more inexpensive kinds.
These takes are colder than my dead mother.
