I didn't tell you all my embarrassing story from Wednesday night but now I'm gonna.

The short version: I fully stacked a rental scooter and it was not elegant.

So I was riding home from dinner Wednesday night when I got to Harbour Esplanade. There was a large group of people blocking the entire path obliviously just messing around so I attempted to go around them on the left. This was at the pedestrian crossing which goes across the road/tram lines and is the entrance to a tram stop.

It turned out that between the tram lines wasn't concrete like on the pedestrian crossing but a drop off and rocks, which I hit hard and went over the handlebars and landed on my right side. I landed on the helmet which was hanging from the scooter (I don't wear them..) and completely destroyed it. A few people asked if I was alright. I was in pain but more embarrassed so I just said I was fine and got myself up and dusted myself off. Managed to not break my phone (left pocket) or my sunglasses (hanging from the neck of my tshirt) which was a plus but I got a decent boo-boo on my elbow, which later also developed an egg-sized egg that evening. Also got a nice bruise on my right knee, a couple of bruises on my back and somehow one on my left inner thigh (maybe landing on the helmet). The worst of it though was that I stupidly braced my fall with my right hand out, which really hurt my thumb where it meets my palm. I wasn't sure if I'd broken anything in it or my wrist but it was agony to touch. Moving it hurt but I had full range of movement and no crunchy sounds so I figure it's just bruised and I've been resting it since and it does seem to slowly be getting less painful.

Today the pain in my back is the worst it has been though. I'm ok getting around but twisting and bending is no bueno.

Anywho.. that's what happened. It has been quite some time since I've fallen over. It's definitely not as fun as I remember it being.

My most undignified stack involves getting up to go to the loo in the middle of the night and slipping over in cat sick. One knee and two ankles demolished. I don’t wear PJs, figure the rest out…

I should have giggled as hard as I did hehe

I can imagine that was a situation most foul!

Thank the universe for unhookable showerheads

I hope you're gonna be ok.

I too had an unfortunate stupid incident years ago. Coburg Lake. Large slide. People piss down slides so I decided to go down in the squat position. Half way down, feet stopped, body kept travelling into the invisible mosh pit at the bottom. I did hurt myself. I miraculously did not break bones.

Ouch sounds like quite a stack.

I'd probably consider hitting up a doc by the sounds of it.

It's funny with stacks. Take a few days to really feel it :(

Hope it eases up quickly.

the elbow and thumb do not sound good

Glad you made it out of that but I think you should also get checked out to make sure you haven’t broken anything, at best it’ll be a few strains but you’ll want to get it treated and checked out.

that elbow egg requires medical attention

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 8 months ago

nerve damage is a worry

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

may I suggest going to the ER, sounds like you might have a few broken bones

very gentle hugs

Seconding a suggestion to visit the hospital. Worst/best case is they xray an confirm that you aren't broken. It is quite possible you have a fracture in your hand. If so, you really ought to have it treated.

My own body hurt reading that. Glad you didn't get too rekt but I also agree with everyone else saying that you should just get things checked to be safe. Not allowing your back to heal properly after an injury could have awful consequences down the track
