You'd much rather have a black skull and bones, rather than red. Black means they're gonna rob you, but if you don't fight back, they won't kill you. Red means death either way.

The black flag has been associated with anarchism since the 1880s, when several anarchist organizations and journals adopted the name Black Flag.
