by going to instant

There is never a time nor place, to recommend instant coffee for anyone.

I disagree while sipping on my Moccona

Hey instant coffee puts hairs on your chest. It takes a brave person to drink it so go back to your soy latte in glass with a little napkin.

If instant puts hair on your chest, I should look like a bear. I like my 6 shot moca pot for breakfast, black with no sugar.

Jfc. No wonder you're angry at your neighbours.

It's the only thing that prevents me from physically assaulting them during their noise making periods.

How much coffee grind do you use in your moka? i generally use the same amount that I use in a plunger.

About 1 and a half scoops unless it's really fine.

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 2 points 1 year ago

I fill it up. Probably 2-2.5 scoops. When ready it fills up a standard mug. I do put a paper filter on top the grinds to reduce the acidity a bit.

Moccona is awesome, Nescafe is crap :/

@Duenan @CEOofmyhouse56 haha *chuckles in decaf moccona*

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

one reason I find instant good is it's low caffeine

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

For low caffeine options I'll do a weak long black. Personally cannot stomach instant in any form. Get indigestion almost instantly.

[โ€“] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

instant WRECKS my stomach. No idea why. Glad its not just me.

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

So apparently, instant is made by freeze drying the beans/grinds. When you're drinking it, you're ingesting the grinds which can be quite acidic. I get a similar reaction when I ingest some of the grinds from a turkish coffee.

You know the smell of instant coffee in the jar. It's not the granules (they don't smell when dry). The smell is injected just before the jars are sealed.

So I just need to make weak real coffee? I used to do drip coffee when I lived in Detroit, never made it strong, just made it taste nice. Jamaica blue . ๐Ÿ˜Š

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Drip was my standard in Canada. Bit of shock coming here and finding out it's hardly a thing. I still don't mind filter coffee, but use a single cup filter arrangement.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 1 year ago

same shock here

[โ€“] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Right, that makes a bit of sense I guess

[โ€“] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 1 points 1 year ago

My GP at the time told me about this. It's been nearly 20 years and still the only type of coffee that does it to me. I'll take it as facts.
