Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

So all the other stuff was fine and that was the last straw?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 53 points 9 months ago (3 children)

He's a Mormon. Sex is what matters to them.

So January 6 should have been sexier? /s

Edit: I thought this was a fun, snarky comment but after seeing some of the replies, I regret making it 😆

MTG is the insurrectionist who penetrated deep into the government

I suppose he acquitted Trump because the events of Jan 6th weren't gay enough. Shirtless shaman guy got Sen. Romney slightly aroused but it didn't quite meet the bar for his tastes. /s

[Note update: He voted to acquit trump on only 1 of 3 charges]

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 10 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Ironically, I’ve had lots of gay sex with Mormons.

[–] JaymesRS 12 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

As long as you were only soaking and someone else jump-humped it doesn’t count. That’s the 2nd of God’s loopholes.

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 4 points 9 months ago

He kept his special underwear on to protect him from the gay waves. Just remember to spit.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Mormons of all sexualities have a lot of sex, especially when they're teenagers. They just repress all of that later and feel super guilty about it.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Teenagers are going to hump each others' brains out. No religion will ever change that.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Yep. It's crazy to think that a person at the time in someone's life when every single hormone in their body is saying, "FUCK SOMEONE! RIGHT NOW!" is usually going to be able to ignore that.

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Did you keep the magic underwear?

[–] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 5 points 9 months ago

No… but I will say, as hideously unsexy as they are supposed to be, there was something really kinky about it. Sinning is my favorite flavor.

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I think you mean, the lack of sex is what matters to them. 🤣

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

I don't know, their five wives and 33 kids might suggest otherwise.

[–] Microw@lemm.ee 5 points 9 months ago

Romney clearly didnt vote for Trump in 2020 either, he wanted to impeach him last I remember.

[–] Zitronensaft@feddit.de 1 points 9 months ago

Romney is a never Trumper, this wasn’t the last straw. He is one of the few Republicans in office who has been calling Trump out on all his shady past and present ever since he started campaigning for the 2016 election.
